Kevin "Doyle" Bowling

Kevin “Doyle” Bowling-age 60 of Powell passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 8, 2025. Anyone who knew Doyle celebrated his extraordinary spirit and his deep passion for fishing. He had great affection for his children, and grandchildren who both brought immense joy to his heart. Doyle was a graduate of Halls High School and went on to be in the 82nd Airborne, where he was honorably discharged. His legacy will be deeply cherished. Preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Norma Bowling; nephew, Casey Wilson.

Lynda Sue Cox

Lynda Sue “Irick” Cox-age 80 of Maynardville born November 24, 1944 passed away peacefully Saturday, March 8, 2025 at her home. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was a retired pharmacy tech of 25 years with Rite Aid Pharmacy, Maynardville. Lynda was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1961. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Preston “Buck” Cox; parents, Clayton and Opal (Raley) Irick; sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Wayne Shoffner; brother-in-law, Edgar Cook.

Justin Dawson

Justin Addison Dawson – age 21 of Maynardville, took his last ride on March 5, 2025. Justin was born on October 13, 2003 on Friday the 13th. He loved riding motorcycles, gaming, fishing and bringing joy to his family and friends. Justin was always playing the goofiest songs while dancing like nobody was watching. He spent most of his life on the field playing football for Union County. But what he was most known for by his loved ones was his countless impressions and contagious laugh that radiated through anyone he was near. Justin left this world doing what he loved.

Sarah Ruth McAfee

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sarah Ruth McAfee, who left this world on March 6, 2025. Born on November 4, 1989, Sarah lived a life filled with love, kindness, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of people. Sarah was saved at a young age on November 16, 2002, and was a member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, shaping the love and compassion she shared with those around her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Melanie Davis.

Dorothy Jane Beason

Dorothy Jane Beason-age 87 of Maynardville passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at her home with her daughter by her side. She was a member of Milan Baptist church and retired from the Standard Knitting Mill. Preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Andrew and Nellie Flossie (Weaver) Miller; husband of 61 years, Hamilton Devine “H.D.” Beason; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee (Polly), Delone (Georgia), Chalmer (Maxine) Miller; sisters and brothers-in-law, Velma (Claude) Hankins and Evelyn (Paul) Holloway and several nieces and nephews.

Linda Sue Valentine

Linda Sue (Beeler) Valentine-age 77 of Knoxville passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at Ben Atchley State Veterans Home. She was a loving christian mother and loved to sing gospel music. She was a feisty grandmother of three and great grandmother of three. Preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Daryl Wayne Valentine; parents, Wilbert and Retha (Wolfenbarger) Beeler; brother, Fernley “Cotton” Beeler; former husband of 33 years and father of her children, Rev. Charles Oliver.

Irena Singleton

Irena Margaret Singleton-age 58 of Maynardville went to go be with the Lord Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family very much. She didn’t have a mean bone or spirit in her body and knew how to make others laugh. Preceded in death by her father, Earl Borcherding; mother, Margaret Bedford; brother, Earl Borcherding, Jr.

Tammy L. Reavis

Tammy L. Reavis-age 52 of Luttrell earned her wings and went to be with our Lord and Savior, after a hard battle with brain and lung cancer. She was truly an angel here on earth. She wanted all her friends to know that she loved them dearly.

She is survived by her sister, Carolyn “Charly” Reavis; children, Aaron Swindell, Ashley McAmis, Daniel McAmis and Autumn Beeler; niece, Destiny Reavis and her children; nephew, Dakota Reavis and his children.

Mary F. "Polly" Shope Joran

Mary F. “Polly” Shope Joran-age 88 of Maynardville passed away Sunday morning, February 23, 2025, at North Knox Medical Center. She was of the Christian faith and loved by many. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Joran, Jr.; parents, Sam and Nora Shope, along with several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Monroe and husband, Bill; grandson, Traves Walters and wife, Lebisa along with several nieces and nephews.

Cynthia Louise Vandergriff

Cynthia L. Vandergriff-age 73 of Newport passed away Monday evening, February 10, 2025. Preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Vandergriff; parents, Carroll Seay and Sylvia Smith Rogers.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna Troutt (David Harrell) of Knoxville; son Jerry Vandergriff and wife, Allison of Sevierville; grandchildren, Taylor Coppock, Nicholas Minton, Tyler Dunn, Chloe Vandergriff, Noah Vandergriff, Bradley Vandergriff, Wade Vandergriff; sisters, Cathy Jones, Carolyn Northern, Coleen Fowler; brothers, Cecil Seay, Curtis Seay and several nieces and nephews.

Billy Ray Stanifer, Sr.

Billy Ray Stanifer – age 84 of Corryton, went home to be with the Lord February 10, 2025. He was a member of Mountain View Church of God of the Union assembly.

Billy is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Alma Williams Stanifer; parents, George and Stella Stanifer; siblings, Patricia Bendiburg, Beatrice Finley and Barry Stanifer. He is survived by son, Bill Stanifer and his wife Rose; siblings, Phyllis Washam, Buddy Stanifer, and Brenda Cline; several grandchildren and many great- grandchildren.

Karen Jessie Savage

Karen Jessie (Kitts) Savage-age 72 of Washburn went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 9, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Karen was saved as a child at vacation bible school and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Tilda Kitts; brothers, Richard and Carlie Kitts and a host of in laws.

Milton Fletcher Kelly, III – age 74, of Maynardville, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, M.F. and Davina Kelly. He is survived by his wife Denise Kelly; sister, Patricia Kelly; daughter, Jessica Richard (Chris); son, Derek Orbesen; niece, Kambrean Kelly; nephew, Kristopher Kelly; stepchildren, Charles Corum (Juniper) and Michelle Tipton (Joshua); grand children, Kailey, Gracie, Addison, and Bjorn; cousins, Debbie Baker (Bruce), Kimberly Cerny (Chuck) and T.K. Barnett (Terry); and many extended family and friends.

Amanda Boggs

Amanda Boggs – age 41 of Maynardville, passed away February 5, 2025. She was a loving mother of three whose life was devoted to giving unconditionally and making those around her feel cherished. Despite the hardships she faced, she put her faith in the Lord, creating a home of love and warmth.

She is survived by son, Preston Smith; daughters, Talor Osborne and Trinity Webb; parents, Raymond Boggs and Mary Marlene Warwick; brother, Adam Boggs and spouse Jeanna; and sister, Amy McCann and spouse Blake.

Paul Hampton

Paul Edward Hampton – age 61, passed from this life to the next at UT Hospital on February 5, 2025. He was a quiet and generous man of very few words. Paul loved his family and will be forever missed.

David Lynn Beeler-age 67 of Maynardville passed away Thursday morning, February 6, 2025 at the Willow Ridge Center, Maynardville. He was of the Baptist faith and was a retired carpenter. Preceded in death by father and step-mother, Olen and June Beeler; mother, Lois Maya; brother, Bobby Beeler; granddaughters, Kourtney Hunter, Jo Ann Shelton.

Dorothy May (Woolard) Davis

Dorothy May (Woolard) Davis-age 92 of Washburn passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Willow Ridge Center, Maynardville. She attended Pennington Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Glynn Davis; parents, Atticus and Rachel Woolard; grandsons, Derick Davis, Jay Carroll; seven brothers and five sisters.
