Betty Ruth Vandergriff-age 86 of Maynardville, born to Atticus and Rachel Woolard on July 20, 1939, in Union County, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at the home of her daughter in Brookston, Indiana. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Vandergriff, that she married on July 27, 1956; her parents, Atticus and Rachel Woolard; son, Kenneth Vandergriff; daughter, Vicki Dillie.

Barbara Jeanne Seymour

Barbara Jeanne Walters Seymour-age 85 of Luttrell went to be with the Lord Sunday evening, February 15, 2026, at Claiborne Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith and a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1959. Barbara was a retired employee of Patterson Brothers Trucking and enjoyed her time serving with the Union County Chamber of Commerce. Preceded in death by daughter, Karen Renee Seymour; parents, Tom and Beulah (Gose) Walters; husband, Walter Seymour.

Thomas "Tom" M. Murrell, Sr.

Thomas "Tom" Murrell Sr. age 65, of South Knoxville passed away February 13th,2026, at his home. He is preceded in death by wife, Robin Murrell and father, Blandford Murrell Sr.

Survived by mother, Shirley Murrell; siblings Blandford "Skip" Murrell Jr. (Cathryn), Anne Hankins (Hoyle) and Kathryn Zechman; daughter, Ashley Earle (Josh) and son, Thomas "TJ" Murrell Jr. (Morgan); grandchildren, Caden, Riley, and Noel; several nieces and nephews; special friends Anna Emory, Frank Ward and his faithful companion Bear Dog.

Karl Alan Naglitch-age 72 of Luttrell passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at his home. He was a retired machinist with Tru-Skills Machining, Oak Ridge with 25 years of service. Preceded in death by son, Benjamin Naglitch; granddaughter, Ava Naglitch; parents, Charles and Amelia Naglitch; sister, Janice Johnson.

Survivors: wife, Shelly Naglitch; children, Karl Naglitch, Jr. and wife, Holly; Rachel Sharp and husband, Andy; Philip Naglitch and wife, Kailee. Ten grandchildren, four Great-Grandchildren. Two nieces, Sherri Coleman and Sheryl Johnson.

Glenda Mynatt

Glenda Mynatt-age 68 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Monday morning, February 9, 2026, at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1976. Preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Dora (Munsey) Crawford; sister, Joeanne Roegelein; brothers, Wayne Crawford, Judson Crawford, Troy Crawford.

Chester Butler

Chester Butler – age 84 of Union County, Tennessee, passed after an extended battle with pancreatic cancer on February 7, 2026.

He is preceded in death by infant daughter, Kimberly. Chester is survived by wife, Frances; sons, John (Leanne) and Jay; grandchildren, Justin (Kelsey), Jordyn and Autumn; great granddaughter, Charlotte; brother, Daniel (Sandra); and many extended family members and friends, including very special in-laws.

April Tolliver

April Sue (Richardson) Tolliver-age 35 of Andersonville passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Parkwest Medical Center. April was born July 14, 1990, the daughter of the late Barbara Kay Williams and Richard (Bud) Lewis Richardson

April leaves behind her husband, Travis Tolliver (separated); boyfriend Billy Bussell; four children, Laken and Isaak Lawson, twin boys; sister Jessica Richardson; brothers, Steven, Jason, and David; grandmother, Irene Barnard and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

James Franklin Doughty, Jr.

James Franklin Doughty, Jr.-age 64 of Sharps Chapel passed away Saturday morning, February 7, 2026 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard and a retired electrician. Preceded in death by father, James Franklin Doughty, Sr.; nephew, Jeffery Shrader; brothers-in-law, Larry Shrader and William Jones.

Survivors: mother, Alma Doughty; sisters, Barbara Jones, Margaret Shrader, Marie Eiler and husband, Greg, all of Sharps Chapel. Nephews, Billy Jones, Chris Hizer, Paul Shrader and David Smith along with a host of friends.

Sherlene Childress

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sherlene Childress, age 76 of Knoxville as she went to be with our Lord Thursday, February 5, 2026. Sherlene loved attending God’s Place Church where she had been a faithful member for many years until her health began to decline. Above anything else, she loved her family and wanted nothing more than to spend time with them.

Sheena Danielle White

Sheena Danielle White-age 43 of Maynardville passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at her home after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. She was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, Halls Congregation. Sheena was a great mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Sheena loved telling anyone she met about her love for her daughter, Harlow and her niece, Navada. She loved planning Disney trips and looking for her next cruise destination.

Ronale Collins

Ronale Collins-age 79 of Corryton went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday morning, February 2, 2026, at his home. He was born July 1, 1946, and lived a long full life, he served in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War. Ronale retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30 years and was a member of the Blazing Star Lodge. Ronale enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family after retirement. He was a kind, caring man who was always ready to help others whether he knew them or not.

Luther "Lucky" Samuel Shope

Luther (Lucky) Shope-age 79 of Andersonville passed away Sunday morning, February 1, 2026, at his home. He was a member of House Mountain Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, David and Berta Shope; brother, J. D. Shope; sister, Jeanette Hiefner.

Survived by wife, Linda J. (McCoy) Shope; sons, Glen Shope; Tim Shope (special friend, Trish Thomas), Donnie and Rosa Shope; ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. Sisters, Charlene Shepler, Sue and Frank Bailey. Several nieces and nephews. He was as inspiration to all who knew him.

Nancy Beeler

Nancy Beeler – age 88 passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Even though her passing will always leave a void in our hearts, we can find comfort in knowing she is at rest with God. She was born on August 27, 1937 to the late Curtis and Mattie Stephens. Nancy was a member of Mt. Eager Church and a homemaker. She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Florence Robinson Alston

Florence Robinson Alston, age 91, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born July 2,1934 to the late Thomas and Rispy “Housley” Robinson. She was born and raised in Union County where she graduated from Horace Maynard High school in 1954. There she was the captain of the basketball team and voted most athletic her senior year. She was a member of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church and attended Union Baptist Church for over 20 years. She was the youngest girl of 13 siblings.

David Lee Hensley-age 37 of Luttrell passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at his home. Preceded in death by mother, Kathy Louise (Dukes) Hensley; aunts and uncles, Larry and Carolyn Hensley, William and Dollie Hensley, Cindy Hensley, Jessie Hensley, Sharon Hensley.

Jessica Haun Boling

Jessica Rae Haun Boling – age 29 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully January 25, 2026. She was a loving wife to Dylan Boling and the best mommy ever to her precious sons, Roman and Simon. Jessica accepted Jesus at an early age and is a member of Warwick Chapel Baptist Church. After a long battle with Ewing Sarcoma, she is now our guardian angel.

William "Bill" Tharp

William “Bill” Tharp-age 92 of Maynardville passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026 at home. He was a member and Deacon of Temple Baptist Church in Knoxville. Bill was a retired employee of the City of Knoxville, Traffic Engineering Department with 25 years of service. Preceded in death by son, Wesley Tharp, parents, Vasco and Ollie Tharp; sisters and brothers, Rose Munsey, Reva Wyrick, Hazel Tharp, Dallas Tharp, John Tharp, Minnie Tharp.

Donna Faye (Wyrick) Bridges-age 69 of Luttrell passed away peacefully at home Thursday, January 22, 2026, after a 10-year fight with Alzheimer’s. She was a member of Carter Road Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Gibbs High School, Class of 1975 and worked for DeRoyal Industries for 27 years. Donna was loved by everyone that knew her and she loved with her whole heart. Donna loved her husband, girls and her grandchildren with all her heart. Preceded in death by her parents, Rector and Alberta Wyrick; sisters, Lily May Duncan and Mary Lawson; brothers, RB Wyrick and William Wyrick; favorite son-in-law, Jason Bailey.
