Mindy Rebecca Johnson-age 43 of Maynardville, born December 12, 1982, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, December 27, 2025. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. She was such a giving and loving soul. She loved fishing, flea markets, photography and enjoying life in general. She also had a huge love for shoes. Preceded in death by her grandparents, Don and Ollie Jo Purkey, Elmer and Gladys Crawford; first husband, Douglas Buckner, aunt, Rebecca Brooks.

Thelma Ruth Johnson Walker-age 79 of Knoxville, born April 22, 1946 passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Loveland Baptist Church and attended Burnette’s Creek Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her loving parents, Willie and Trula Savage; brother, Ray Savage; nephew, Brad Lee; brother-in-law, Clyde Bailey.

Trilma Evelyn (Russell) Davis, our beloved mother, age 77, of Maynardville, went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 26, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was a member of Fellowship Christian Church, Luttrell, TN. She was born in Harlan, KY and moved to Maynardville, TN at the age of three where she remained throughout her life.

Gerald Wayne Hobock – age 81 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Friday morning, December 26, 2025, at his home. He was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church and a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1963. His favorite pastime was fishing for crappie and being on the lake. He is preceded in death by first wife, Elsie Hobock; son, Ronald (Pete) Hobock; parents, Jessie and Trula (McBee) Hobock; brother, James (J.L.) Hobock; sisters, Carolyn Walker, Marilyn Rodgers.

Maxine Moore—Age 89 of Maynardville, TN passed peacefully to her heavenly home the morning of December 24, 2025. Born January 10, 1936. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church for more than fifty years, where she met many life-long friends.

Maxine retired from Union County School System. She was also a talented seamstress and held a passion for her cross-stitch hobby where she expressed love through her cherished heirlooms.

Her greatest joy was her faith and family. Everyone who knew her was touched by her generous and caring spirit.

Elvin Paul “Fats” Helton – age 76 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully December 23, 2025. He was well known for fishing and hunting. Elvin loved to fish more than anything. He was a very devoted and generous man to his family and friends. Elvin was a very hard-working man and his smile touched the heart of whoever he bestowed it on.

Sonya Lynn Davidson Williams passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025 surrounded by friends and family.

Sonya was born on March 1, 1970 to Bill Davidson and Evelyn White. Sonya was a member of New Tazewell Christian Church and was baptized at Coker Creek during church camp when she was 12. She contributed to her church in many ways, but her favorite way to contribute was the hours she spent decorating the church and sanctuary for every season and holiday.

Randy Gayle Arnwine – age 68 of Farragut, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025. He was a member of Central View American Christian Church. He retired from the Union County School system. He is preceded in death by his parents, George (Ray) and Thelma Starnes Arnwine; sisters, Diane Dail, Sherry Marshal.

He is survived by his wife, Mary “Nan” Arnwine; sister, Joan Jones and husband Jack; brother, Roger Arnwine and wife Heather; several nieces and nephews.

Scott Cook-age 82 of the Claxton Community passed away suddenly Thursday morning, December 18, 2025 at South Knoxville Senior Living. He was a veteran of the U S. Amy. Preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Minnie (Miller) Cook; wife, Pamela Louise (Shivers) Cook; son Scott Lee Cook; sister Lula Bell Melton.

William “Bill” Nelson 1940-2025

Bill Nelson Beloved father to 3 children, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, leaving a void his family cannot fill.

He was born in Joliet Illinois in 1940 to Clarence and Catherine (Coyne) Nelson. His father worked on the rail road and Bill loved to be like his dad and enjoyed his model trains. He always enjoyed a long weekend motorcycle ride.

Faye Beeler Chandler-age 90 of Luttrell, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at home. She was saved at an early age and was a member of Spiritual Missionary Baptist Church, Corryton. She was a talented piano player and singer at churches for many years. She was the last surviving child of Jess and Goldie Williams.

A special thank you to April, Whitley, Andrew, Nate, Regan, and Dr. Jay, her beloved Dr. and all of Suncrest Hospice, she loved each of you with her whole heart.

Linda Diann Hobock – 62 of Maynardville, passed away December 17, 2025. She was of the Baptist faith. Diann loved working in her garden.

She is preceded in death by father, Dwayne McCarter sisters, Lisa Turner and Kristel McCarter. Diann is survived by her fiancé of 25 years, Greg Maples; sons, Dallon (Amanda) Hobock and Dustin Hobock; grandchildren, Pete, Jolene "JoJo", Serenity, Journey and Madison; mother, Linda McCarter; brother, Victor McCarter, sisters, Sirena (Thomas) Cooke and Vivian McCarter; and many nieces and nephews.

With broken hearts, Corbin and Anna share that our sweet Babygirl gained her wings today, December 16, 2025 at 6:21 p.m.

My water broke around 1:30 a.m., and we were transferred from Claiborne County to Fort Sanders around 2:00 a.m. My contractions stopped around 3:00 a.m., and after meeting with our care providers and discussing our options, we learned our Babygirl had fluid around her heart and was not doing well. I also experienced significant hemorrhaging when we arrived at Fort Sanders, which the doctors were able to get under control.

Timothy “Tim” James Letner – age 60 of Maynardville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Tim loved to fish, listen to music and fixing vehicles and motorcycles. He is preceded in death by his son, Shane Letner; step-son, Craig Thatcher; Parents, Jess and Etta Mae Letner; brothers, Jeff Letner, Darell Letner, Tony Wyrick.

He is survived by his fiancé, Kisha Letner; children, Dustin Letner and fiancé, Jessica Stiner; Rachel Thatcher; step-son, Jamie Thatcher; brothers, Marvin Letner, Jack Wyrick; granddaughter, Harlie Letner.

Mason Travis Welch -- age 20, of Luttrell, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2025. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Bettie Faulkner, who raised him; his brother, Quinton Welch; his father, Shawn Welch; his grandfather, Frank Faulkner; and his grandfathers, James Cassidy and Jerry Cummings.

James Carl Melton, Sr.-age 83 of Knoxville passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at his home. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Clinton. Preceded in death by his wife, Lula B. (Cook) Melton; parents, Rev. Alvis Melton and Litha (Duncan) Melton.

Survivors: son, James Carl Melton, Jr. and wife, Wendy June Melton; grandson, Cory Jacob Melton; granddaughter, Brittany Jordan Melton; brother-in-law, Ronald Scott Cook; sister-in-law, Barbara Ellen McNeely; 2 sisters, Emma Smith and husband, Dewey Smith, Carolyn Conkin. Patricia "Pattie" Dukes Henderson-age 74, of Bowling Green, KY, entered into rest at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY surrounded by her children. She was born June 28, 1951 in Luttrell, TN to the late Lois Imogene Smith (Washam) and Fred Douglas Dukes.

Dennis R. Greminger Sr. Obituary
Dennis R. Greminger Sr., age 73, of Maynardville, Tennessee suddenly passed away on Friday,
December 5th, 2025, from injuries sustained in an accident. He entered heaven while
surrounded by his four children and their mother at the University of Tennessee Hospital, held
close by the love of his family.
Born in Moorehead, Minnesota on September 28th, 1952, Dennis lived in many places, settling
in Lockport, Illinois to raise his family. Later he retired and enjoyed life the way he wanted to in
rural Maynardville, Tennessee.

Jackie A. Oaks-age 78 of Maynardville passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. Preceded in death by parents, Lora Jean Russell Oaks and Earl Thomas Oaks; brother, Gene Oaks.
Survived by loving companion, Wanda Garrison; niece and husband, Crystal and Mark Caldwell; niece, Shelley Oaks; step-son, Dustin Miles.

Jose Miguel Lopez, age 20, loving son and brother of Gibbs, TN went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2025. He enjoyed spending his time playing soccer and had a true passion for cars.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Sherry Elliott.

He is survived by his loving mother, Jessica (Selin) Escobar; father, Francisco Cruz Garcia; brothers, John Lopez, Owen Lopez, and Gael Escobar; grandfather, Frank Elliott; aunts, Mellisa (Luis) Sanchez and Nichole Phillips; uncle, Corey Ludwig; cousins, Matthew and Joseph; and a host of other family and friends.
