Shirley D. (Smith) McCloud-age 79 of Luttrell passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at North Knoxville Medical Center where we said goodbye to our precious mother. She was a graduate of Gibbs High School and a member of Calvery’s Cross Church. Preceded in death by husband, Charles G. McCloud; parents, Eustace (Sewell) and Kathleen Smith; brother, Larry Smith.

Betty Louise Tharp-age 67 of Luttrell, born Betty Louise Cooper on August 31, 1959, to Estel and Idell Cooper, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026. At the age of 17 Betty married the love of her life, Michael Lynn Tharp Sr., on November 27, 1976. Betty was a devoted mother to her son, Michael Lynn Tharp Jr., and daughter, Michelle Ann Hensley. She was also a beloved “Mamaw” a title that she wore proudly and that brought her tremendous joy. It was no secret that being Mamaw was one of her favorite roles in life.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our sister, Dorothy Edna Essary-age 74 of Maynardville who passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, surrounded by her sisters and brother. Dorothy lost her hearing when she was four years old and was a graduate of Tennessee School for the Deaf, Class of 1970. She was a caring and loving person who never allowed her disability to keep her from enjoying life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time with family and friends, helping them celebrate birthdays and holidays.

Walter “Rhea” Hill-age 80 of Washburn, born April 21, 1946, went to be with the Lord Monday, September 21, 2026, at the home of his daughter, April. Rhea was a loving, hardworking, kind and gentle man. He was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Church. He was a graduate of East High School, Knoxville. Preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jo Hill; his parents, Herbert and Clara Hill; brothers, Herbert Earl Hill, Eddie Hill.

Katherine Marie Grimes – age 61 of Maynardville, TN went home to be with the Lord, September 19, 2026. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Jane Blackburn; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Wilma Grimes. ‘

Ronnie Singleton-age 66 of Washburn, born April 18, 1960, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026, peacefully at his home with his loved ones by his side. He was a member of Pawpaw Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Thorn Hill. Preceded in death by his father, Dars Singleton; mother, Dorothy Holliman; step-father, Ernist Holliman; sister, Debbie Jarnigan; brothers, Donnie Singleton and two baby brothers; father and mother-in-law, Luther and Lois Munsey.

Robin Michelle Arrowood-age 58 of Powder Springs, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 10, 2026. She was of the Baptist Faith. Preceded in death by her parents, Ronny and Brenda Barnes; father-in-law, Allen (Mickey) Arrowood.

Rita J. Poteet – age 91 of Maynardville, went to her Heavenly Home on September 9, 2026. She was a member of St. Teresa’s of Kolkata Church. Rita retired from a career in Civilian Personnel at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan. Rita enjoyed hobbies of quilting, stain glass, crafting and an occasional casino visit.

Eddie Gene Wallace-age 73 of Maynardville passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at his home. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Cleo Wallace; daughter, Tiffany Dailey; infant siblings, Ralph and Mary Lou; sisters, Dorothy, Betty, Evelyn and Peggy; brothers, Rex, Junior and Johnny.

Herbert Harrell Jr., 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his close family.

Herbert was a talented and hardworking man who could fix just about anything. He was a skilled welder and craftsman who took great pride in working with his hands and creating things from scratch. One of his favorite pastimes was making fishing plugs, a craft he truly enjoyed and took great pride in. His creativity, knowledge, and ability to make or repair almost anything will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Patricia Sue “Patsy” Simmons-age 88 of Maynardville passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at her home. She was a member of Pennington Chapel Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1956. Patsy retired from the Union County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. She loved being with family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Sarah Hopson; infant baby, Patti Jill; brothers, Herbert and Howard Hopson; several aunts, nephews and nieces.

Harry Lyle Dyke-age 72 of Sharps Chapel went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Preceded in death by his parents, Fate and France Dyke.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Dyke; sons, Tobby Johnson (Tracy) Geames), Cory Dyke (Amanda Dyke); daughter, Cindy Dyke; brother, Ricky Dyke (Betty Dyke); sisters, Mildred Dyke, Verna Dyke; grandchildren, Devin Johnson, Ethan McKnight (Chloe Rose), Cole and Austin Nicley; great grandchildren, Ryland and Dallas McKnight.

Sonny Joe Sexton-age 71 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Monday, August 31, 2026. He enjoyed building cars. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and June Sexton; brothers, Larry Sexton, Jimmy Sexton, Bobby Sexton; sister, Connie Williams.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Sexton; brother, Donnie Sexton (Sue); sister, Holly Simmons (Mike); sisters-in-law, Sissie Sexton, Judy Sexton.

Evette Urynia Patrick-age 55 of Corryton passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church, Corryton. She was a very sweet individual. When she was young, she loved playing outside and loved nature. She was very artistic and loved drawing and coloring. Preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Urynia (Wolfenbarger) Patrick; special cousin, Henry “Tommy” Buckner, Jr.

Helen Pearl Foster – age 89 of Andersonville, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 27, 2026. She was saved as a young girl at Byram’s Fork Baptist Church. Helen was a member of Hines Creek Baptist Church. She loved to tell stories, music and laughter. Helen had a big heart for any small creature, especially her little dog, Roxy. She will be deeply missed and her many stories will be cherished forever.

Ray Von Malone, age 85, of Maynardville, passed away on August 27, 2026. He was born on April 17, 1941, and graduated from Horace Maynard High School in 1959. He was a member and Trustee of Alder Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He served four years in the United States Navy and worked for Alcoa Aluminum Company for 36 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years. In his free time, Ray enjoyed wood carving and reading.

William “Will” Boyd Harrell, age 38 of Sharps Chapel Tennessee, gained his wings one day between the dates of June 23, 2025, and August 10, 2026. Left to mourn his passing are his parents, Florence Elizabeth (Libby) O’Brien of Sharps Chapel, Tennessee and T.J. Harrell of New Tazewell, Tennessee; also, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Preceding William in death is his brother, Thomas John Harrell; grandparents, Sillus and Mattie (Ray) Masingo, Harvey (Jr) and Linda (Sharp) Harrell; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Richard Kent Haggard-age 32 of New Market passed away suddenly, Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his home. He was a bright, happy person whom everyone loved. Richard was a kind and caring person. He always touched everyone’s hearts. He was a great Dad and a wonderful man with a bright, funny, beautiful, caring soul. He brought love, life and laughter to everyone who knew him, as well as those he met. He would give anyone the shirt off his back, if they needed it. He loved everyone with his whole heart. A beautiful and loving soul gone too soon.
