Raymond Larry Atkins

Raymond Larry Atkins-age 76 of Maynardville passed away at home and entered his heavenly home Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was saved and baptized as a young boy and was a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Luttrell.

Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a friend to all who knew him. Most of his adult life he was a man of large stature with an easy smile and a kind heart that was even larger than his physical appearance.

Dustin Lynn Collins

Dustin Lynn Collins-age 36 of New Tazewell went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Poplarville, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd “Bo” Hall; sister, Kacy Collins; grandmothers, Carolyn Jones and Kathy Bell; grandfather, Terry Bell.

He is survived by his mother, Yvette Hall; father, Chris Collins; sister, Amanda (Dallon) Hobock; niece and nephew, Joleen and Pete Hobock; grandfather, Roger Jones; grand mother-in-law, Vickie Elliott; special friends, Joey, Nate and Bridgette and host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Frank W. Welch

Frank W. Welch-age 85 of Andersonville passed away Monday, October 6, 2025. He was a member and deacon of Walnut Grove Church. He retired from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation in 2002. Preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Nellie Welch; sister, Rosetta Jones Brown; brother, Douglas Welch.

Troy Lee Yadon

Troy Lee Yadon-age 51 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, October 5, 2025 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He had fought a hard battle with Dialysis for the past two years. Lee was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his father, Troy Leon Yadon and mother, Kathy (Smith) Yadon.

George Matthew Orth

George Orth died peacefully at home on Friday, October 3, 2025.

George Matthew Orth was born in San Francisco, California at Mary’s Help Hospital, on July 9, 1932 to Mary and Joseph Orth. He spent his childhood and early adulthood in the San Francisco Bay area.

Lewis Gilbert Sutton, Jr.

Lewis Gilbert Sutton, Jr., -- age 64 of Tazewell, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 30, 2025. He was a police officer for over 30 years and loved his job dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Amanda Sutton; step-mother, Earlene Sutton; daughter, Jessica Bailey.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Sutton; sons, Mathew Sutton, Jacob Sutton, Joshua Sutton; sisters, Jennifer Brown and husband John of Kentucky, Francis Sutton of Kentucky; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rev. Elbert B. Hunley

Reverend Elbert B. Hunley, of Corryton, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born in Speedwell, Tennessee, and lived a life devoted to faith, family, and hard work.
Elbert shared 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Margie Hunley, who preceded him in death in 2020. Their love and devotion to one another was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Ricky Gene Dail

Ricky Gene Dail-age 65 of Luttrell, born December 29, 1959, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025. He was a member at Fairview Baptist Church and a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1977. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Janey Hamilton Dail; father, Horace Dail and mother, Reva (Booker) Dail.

He leaves behind his daughters, Becky Beeler and Elizabeth Ailor; grandchildren, Justin Beeler, Zackery Beeler and Emma Foulks; siblings, Joyce Dail, Stanley Dail, Steve (Renee) Dail and David Dail.

Lorene Williams

Lorene Williams-age 90 of Maynardville, born March 24, 1935 passed away Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2025. She was a member of Milan Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, James H. Williams; six brothers and five sisters.

Survivors: daughter, Deborah (David) Vineyard of Loudon; son, Michael Williams of Maynardville. Two grandchildren, Joshua Vineyard of Rockford; Phillip (Ariel) Vineyard of Timberville, Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Aubree Vineyard and Lily Vineyard. Several nieces and nephews.

Opal (Cook) Cox

Opal Ruby (Cook) Cox, age 94, of Maynardville, TN went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2025. She left this world peacefully at Willow Ridge Rehabilitation Center. Opal lived her whole life in Union County and was well loved by her family and community. She will be dearly missed. Her strong-will and loving spirit will live on with her family and friends. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Claude Luther Kiser

Claude Luther Kiser-age 71, of Maynardville, born October 31, 1953, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. Preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Pauline Kiser; brothers, Billy and Johnny Kiser.

Betty Rose Grissom

Betty Rose Grissom-age 89 of Maynardville passed away Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025, at her home. She was a retired school teacher and taught in the head start system in Knoxville. Preceded in death by her husband, Verlin Grissom; sons, Eddie Grissom, Harvey Grissom, Darrell Grissom, Terry Grissom, Mike Grissom.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Stabnow of Maynardville, Diane McGinnis and husband, Don of Corryton, Peggy Leonard and husband, John of Knoxville; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Janis Adams

Janis Eve Adams – 74 of Powell, grew up in Norris, Tennessee passed away September 21, 2025. She was a cheerleader and beauty queen all through high school. Janis loved life and cherished her hometown. She spent as much time as possible on Norris Lake and always had her fur babies for companionship. Janis loved style, dressing up, jewelry, plants, gardening, decorating and most of all she adored her granddaughter, Keela Phillips-Whitt.

Joshua Day

Joshua Allen Day – 45 of Andersonville, went home to be with the Lord at U T Medical Center on Saturday, September 20, 2025. He was a member of Oaks Chapel American Christian Church.

Carl Foust Booker

Carl Foust Booker-age 74 of Luttrell went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday morning, September 21, 2025, at Norris Health and Rehab Center, Andersonville. He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Booker; his parents, Roy and Mary Jane Booker; brother, Sammy Booker; sister, Nancy Parrott.

Allen Wayne Shope

Allen Wayne Shope-age 75 of Maynardville passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, at his home. He was a graduate of Colonial High School, Class of 1969 in Orlando, Florida. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War and also served in Korea. He recently retired as a Tool and Die Maker in North Carolina. He was an avid motorcyclist who loved to ride his Harley-Davidson. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and over the years, his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. His other hobbies included his ski boat, the lake and water skiing along with anything outside to include hunting.

Bessie Williams

Bessie Williams - born August 22, 1954, departed this life September 19, 2025 to be with her Lord. She was a member of Nave Hill Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by many family members. Bessie is survived by her children, Shelly Hurst, Amanda (Henry) Glenn and Donnie (Paige) Norris; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Bailey; brother, Wayne Bailey; and a host of nieces and nephews.

James "Jamie" Nicely

James (Jamie) Nicely- of Luttrell went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday morning, September 19, 2025 at the young age of 52 at North Knoxville Medical Center. Jamie was born September 16, 1973 to L. D. Nicley and Mary Ruth Lawson. Preceded in death by father, L. D. Nicley; step-mother, Joyce Nicley; sister, Kim Nicely; nephew, Kenneth Nicley; Uncle Jim Lawson; grandparents, John Henry Lawson, Artie F. Lawson; Taylor and Della Nicley.

Maria Lynn Moore

Maria Lynn Moore – age 46 of Maynardville, went to be with the Lord August 28, 2025. She was the only daughter of Harold and Luz Moore. Maria was a graduate of Union County High School, Class of 1997 and The Core Institute School of Massage Therapy. She attended Roane State Community College and Pellissippi. She loved her family and friends and the love of her life, fur baby Maggie, her kitty, who she called her little nurse. Maria was a very talented and dedicated artist. She was a beautiful soul inside and out and enjoyed helping people and always believed in being kind to others.

Brenda K. Sharpe

Brenda Kay Sharpe, age 74, of Maynardville passed away peacefully at home the morning of September 17th, 2025, after fighting several health battles with tremendous courage, joy, and determination. Brenda loved and believed in Jesus and accepted Him as her savior at Pennington Chapel Church when she was 16 years old. She was a member of Hubbs Grove Baptist Church. Brenda worked as a textile machine operator, a mobile home escort driver, and a furniture maker. She also raised a son as a young, single mother. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Emma and Ella.
