Barbara Radford – age 73 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025 at Claiborne Medical Center with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. She was a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her strength, warmth and steady presence touched the lives of all who knew her. Barbara spent her life putting family first and was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit and quiet grace.

Marie Carmon “Tootie” Johnson-age 81 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 28, 2025 at her home. She was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Levi Strauss Company. Marie was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1962. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Steven Johnson; son, Wayne Johnson; daughter, Sharon Washam; grandson, B. T. Johnson. Parents, Dougan and Hester Carmon; brothers, Glen Carmon, Ed Carmon, sisters, Ina Carmon and Betty Williams.

Shirley Diane Gibson

Shirley Diane Gibson-age 77 of Speedwell, Tennessee went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Claiborne Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith and was saved at an early age. She was preceded in death by parents, Curtis and Pansy Chumley; her daughter, Renosia Jane Noah, son, Kennith Ronald Gibson, father of her children, Kennith William Gibson; siblings, James Luther Chumley, Eunice “Susie” Chumley Brantley, Bernice June Chumley Keck, Linda Jackie Chumley Caldwell, Rosemary Sheckles, Carolyn Sue Chumley Brantley, Nancy Jean Ervin, Jerry Lee Chumley.

Phillip Andrew Woods

With broken hearts and profound love, we share the passing of our beloved Phillip Andrew Woods, age 41, who left this world on June 24, 2025, after a brave and relentless battle with stage 4 cancer. Andrew passed peacefully, surrounded by his family and held up by the strength of a community who loved him beyond measure.

Ella (Tharp) Blankenship, age 82 of Luttrell departed this earth and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2025. She was a life-long member of Warwick’s Chapel Baptist Church in Luttrell. Preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Blankenship; daughter Robin Blankenship Murphy; parents, Lee and Ollie Tharp; brothers Eskie and John (Dora) Tharp; sisters Lucille (Herbert) Chesney, Pearlie Muncey, Inez (Charlie) Brown, Mabel Tharp, and Rozell Tharp.

Marilyn Elizabeth Cates, lovingly known as “Nanny”, age 83 of Luttrell passed away peacefully Friday, June 13, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. Born January 16, 1942, Marilyn was the heart of her family and loved by many. She loved fishing, gardening, yard sales and being surrounded by family and friends. Howard D. Hopson-age 90 of Washburn went to his Heavenly Home Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Howard professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Eager Missionary Baptist Church. Howard was a U.S. Army Veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sarah (Davis) Hopson; grandsons, Jonathan Howard Hopson and Eric Miniard; brother, James Herbert Hopson.

Nancy Sue Middleton

Nancy Middleton, 71 of Harrogate, TN passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was born to the late Otis and Bertha Middleton on December 6, 1953. Nancy was a retiree of Wal-Mart in Middlesboro, KY and was currently employed at H.Y. Livesay Middle School in Cumberland Gap, TN. Nancy was preceded in death by her two brothers, Sylvan Middleton and Tom Middleton and four sisters, Geneva Caudill, Glenna Harrison, Reva Shepherd and Cathy Eland.

Bo was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1990. He was a retired truck driver with Bennett Truck Transport and a former employee of Buckeye’s Scrap.
