Marie Carmon “Tootie” Johnson-age 81 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 28, 2025 at her home. She was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Levi Strauss Company. Marie was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1962. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Steven Johnson; son, Wayne Johnson; daughter, Sharon Washam; grandson, B. T. Johnson. Parents, Dougan and Hester Carmon; brothers, Glen Carmon, Ed Carmon, sisters, Ina Carmon and Betty Williams.

Shirley Diane Gibson-age 77 of Speedwell, Tennessee went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Claiborne Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith and was saved at an early age. She was preceded in death by parents, Curtis and Pansy Chumley; her daughter, Renosia Jane Noah, son, Kennith Ronald Gibson, father of her children, Kennith William Gibson; siblings, James Luther Chumley, Eunice “Susie” Chumley Brantley, Bernice June Chumley Keck, Linda Jackie Chumley Caldwell, Rosemary Sheckles, Carolyn Sue Chumley Brantley, Nancy Jean Ervin, Jerry Lee Chumley.

With broken hearts and profound love, we share the passing of our beloved Phillip Andrew Woods, age 41, who left this world on June 24, 2025, after a brave and relentless battle with stage 4 cancer. Andrew passed peacefully, surrounded by his family and held up by the strength of a community who loved him beyond measure.

Lonnie Dean Abbott- age 87 of Clinton passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at U.T. Medical Center. Lonnie was of the Christian faith, a U.S. Army Veteran and loved NASCAR Racing. Preceded in death by his parents, John B. Abbott and Dessie Marie (Morgan) Abbott; wives, Penny Abbott, South Haven, MI and Freidea Abbott, Corbin, KY; brothers, Leroy Abbott and John Paul Abbott.

Alice Anita (Russell) Corum – age 84 of Maynardville, went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2025. She was a member of Fellowship Christian Church in Luttrell.

Ella (Tharp) Blankenship, age 82 of Luttrell departed this earth and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2025. She was a life-long member of Warwick’s Chapel Baptist Church in Luttrell. Preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Blankenship; daughter Robin Blankenship Murphy; parents, Lee and Ollie Tharp; brothers Eskie and John (Dora) Tharp; sisters Lucille (Herbert) Chesney, Pearlie Muncey, Inez (Charlie) Brown, Mabel Tharp, and Rozell Tharp.

Peggy Lucretia (Livesay) Vaughn – age 64 of Jefferson City Tennessee, passed away Thursday morning, June 19, 2025, at her home. She was of the Christian Faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Robert Livesay and Sherry Livesay; husband, Chippy Vaughn; daughter, Tonya Dawson; brothers, Casey Livesay, Lonnie Livesay.

Marilyn Elizabeth Cates, lovingly known as “Nanny”, age 83 of Luttrell passed away peacefully Friday, June 13, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. Born January 16, 1942, Marilyn was the heart of her family and loved by many. She loved fishing, gardening, yard sales and being surrounded by family and friends. Carolyn Sue Smith – age 73 of Morristown, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025. She is preceded in death by her mother, Rachel Smith; husband, Henry Earl Ellison; daughter, Joele Smith; son, Dustin Ellison.

Howard D. Hopson-age 90 of Washburn went to his Heavenly Home Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Howard professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Eager Missionary Baptist Church. Howard was a U.S. Army Veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sarah (Davis) Hopson; grandsons, Jonathan Howard Hopson and Eric Miniard; brother, James Herbert Hopson.

Nancy Middleton, 71 of Harrogate, TN passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. She was born to the late Otis and Bertha Middleton on December 6, 1953. Nancy was a retiree of Wal-Mart in Middlesboro, KY and was currently employed at H.Y. Livesay Middle School in Cumberland Gap, TN. Nancy was preceded in death by her two brothers, Sylvan Middleton and Tom Middleton and four sisters, Geneva Caudill, Glenna Harrison, Reva Shepherd and Cathy Eland.

Julia Faye (Campbell) Seal – age 79 of Maynardville, Tennessee passed on to Heaven on June 2, 2025. She was a longtime member of Mount Eager Baptist Church.

Faye is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend George and Leona (Chesney) Campbell; brothers, Howard “Tommy” and Jimmy Campbell both of Maynardville. She is survived by her husband, Douglas ”Doug” Dwight Seal, Sr.; son, Douglas “Dwight” Seal, II and wife, Brittnee; grandson, Matthew Seal; sisters-in-law, Mary Campbell and Katy Seal; brothers-in-law, Frank and Fred (Patty) Seal; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Charlie and Gayle Hutson, Anthony Smitherman and Steve Peoples; and a host of other friends and relatives.

Timothy Richard Arnwine – age 65, passed away June 2, 2025. He was a member of Powder Springs Baptist Church.

Johnny Neil Adams-age 65 of Knoxville passed away suddenly Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his home. He was a retired employee of Merit Construction. Floyd Joe Lee Hall, Jr. “Bo”-age 54 of New Tazewell passed away Sunday evening, May 25, 2025 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member Pump Hollow Baptist Church. Bo was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1990. He was a retired truck driver with Bennett Truck Transport and a former employee of Buckeye’s Scrap. Preceded in death by father, Floyd Joe Lee Hall, Sr.; grandparents, Short and Margaret Hall.

David Timothy Fagan-age 72 of Seymour passed away Friday, May 23, 2025 at U. T. Medical Center.

Janet Sue Overton – age 62 of Knoxville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, May 23, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family who she loved with all her heart (even when she was on the warpath!). Janet loved the Lord and trusted Him to the end.

Kim Marie Brantley-age 66 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Friday, May 23, 2025 at U. T. Medical Center after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Bob Rice; grandmother, Helen Guy.
