Union County FCE Learns About Heart Health; March Craft Program Announced
The Union County Family and Community Education (FCE) Club gathered in February for a wonderful morning of learning, fellowship, and delicious food at the Union County Extension Office. Members enjoyed an informative program focused on heart health, just in time for American Heart Month.
A special thank you goes to Anna Marie Cooksey, MPH, CHES, Public Health Educator with the Union County Health Department, for sharing valuable information about heart disease prevention, healthy lifestyle habits, and simple changes that can make a big difference. FCS Agent Abigail Thomas also presented a short program on different cooking oils and their health benefits. Members even participated in a fun brownie taste test, comparing baked goods made with different oils to see if they could taste the difference. The morning was filled with great conversation, learning, and fellowship around the table.
Looking ahead, the Union County FCE Club will meet in March for a creative and hands-on program. Members will be making crushed glass art night lights, led by Rhonda Oxendine. This unique craft project is sure to be both fun and beautiful. Participants are asked to bring $10 to help cover the cost of materials and a covered dish to share for lunch.
The March meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Union County Extension Office. All interested individuals are welcome to attend and learn more about FCE. For additional information about the program or how to get involved, contact the Union County Extension Office at 865-992-8038.
