Union County FCE Learns About Financial Fraud; July Field Trip Planned
The Union County Family and Community Education (FCE) Club gathered in June for an informative and enjoyable meeting at the Union County Extension Office. Members welcomed guest speakers from FirstBank of Maynardville, who presented a program on financial fraud and scams. Attendees learned about common fraud tactics, warning signs to watch for, and ways to protect personal and financial information.
Following the presentation, members held a brief business meeting to discuss upcoming FCE events, activities, and opportunities. The meeting concluded with a delicious potluck lunch featuring a wide variety of salads and tasty desserts. The meal provided a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and conversation among members.
Looking ahead, the Union County FCE Club will be taking a field trip in July to the Bush’s Visitor Center in Chestnut Hill, Tennessee. Members will explore the interactive museum exhibits, learn about the 110-year history of Bush’s Beans, and discover how the company’s famous baked beans are made. Following the self-guided tour, the group will enjoy lunch together at the Bush’s Family Café.
Those planning to attend should arrive at the Union County Extension Office by 9:15 a.m. for carpooling, with departure scheduled promptly at 9:30 a.m. Members interested in attending or willing to serve as drivers are encouraged to contact Abigail Thomas.
The Union County FCE Club welcomes anyone interested in learning new skills, meeting new friends, and serving their community. For more information about FCE or upcoming programs, contact Abigail Thomas, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, at 865-992-8038 or athom237@utk.edu.
