Peach Cobbler
Here is a tasty way to prepare a peach cobbler. You have everything in your pantry. Appreciate the idea of using both peaches and pears. That is a tasty combination.
PEACH COBBLER
2 cans, 16 ounces each, sliced peaches OR 1 can each of peaches and pears
2/3 cup sugar, divided
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon margarine
1 Recipe drop biscuits
In saucepan over medium heat, combine peaches with syrup, 1/3 cup sugar, the spices and cornstarch. Stirring occasionally, bring to a boil. Add margarine. Stir to combine. Pour into ungreased 9 by 13-inch baking pan. Prepare drop biscuits, except add 1/3 cup sugar to dry ingredients. Drop biscuits from tablespoon onto peaches. Bake at 425 F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until top is lightly browned. Makes 6 servings.
DROP BISCUITS
2 cups plain flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter or margarine 1 cup milk
In large bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add milk. Stir until sticky dough forms. Use large spoon to drop dough in 8 mounds on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake about 15 minutes at 425 F. or until golden brown.
