Final Call for Bakers: Heritage Festival Cake and Pie Contests This Week
Union County bakers have one last chance to enter the Cake and Pie Contests at the 2025 Union County Heritage Festival. Entries will be accepted at the Union County Extension Office on Thursday, October 2, from 4 to 5 p.m., and Friday, October 3, from 8 to 11 a.m. Judging will take place Friday at 12:30 p.m.
The contests are free to enter and open to all ages. Cakes must be completely homemade and may be entered in the Layered, Sheet, or Bundt categories. Pies must also be homemade and may be entered in the Fruit, Cream, or Nut/Other categories. Each entry must be submitted with a recipe card.
Prizes include $100 for the Grand Champion in both cake and pie divisions and $50 for first-place winners in each category.
Following the judging, cakes and pies will be sold through Facebook beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 3. Sales are first come, first served. Proceeds will benefit the Union County Family & Community Education (FCE) Club and its programs.
Sponsors for this year’s contests include Benchmark Physical Therapy of Maynardville for the Cake Contest and Tammie Hill of Realty Executives for the Pie Contest.
