FCE hosts spring luncheon, invites others to join club

The UC Family & Community Education (FCE) Club held its annual Spring Luncheon and Cultural Arts Contest in May at the Extension office. With the theme “Hats Off to FCE,” the meeting space was transformed into an elegant tea party setting, complete with beautiful spring decorations. Members arrived in their Sunday best—lovely dresses and charming hats adding a touch of tradition and fun to the occasion.

The event opened with a warm welcome and county update from County Mayor Jason Bailey. FCE members appreciated his time and insights on ongoing and upcoming projects in the county. The luncheon also featured a special presentation from Ellen Perry of the UC Historical Society, who shared an engaging history lesson highlighting the rich past of our community.

A highlight of the day was the annual Cultural Arts Contest, which showcased the incredible talents of FCE members. This year saw an impressive 21 entries across 18 categories, ranging from fine arts and photography to crafts and quilting. All first and second place winners are eligible to represent Union County at the Eastern Region FCE Cultural Arts Contest in Sullivan County, held at the Ramsey Ag Center on September 15th.

What is FCE?
FCE is a volunteer organization that empowers individuals and strengthens families through continuing education, leadership development and community service. FCE promotes fellowship, creativity and learning—making it a wonderful way to connect with others in our county while making a positive difference.

Everyone is Welcome
Our meetings are open to anyone interested in learning, growing and giving back. You are even welcome to bring a grandchild along. It’s a great way to share time together and build community across generations.
