Wade Nicely

Wade Nicely-age 84 of Washburn, born May 15, 1936 went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his home. He was a lifetime member and a deacon for 51 years of Pennington Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by wife, Jean Nicely; grandson, Casey Buckner; parents, Tim and Ava Nicely; brothers, Denver and Cleo Nicely, Leland (Lett) and Ruby Nicely, Lon Nicely, Curt and June Nicely, Cecil Nicely; sisters, Naomi Nicely, Katie Lee and Ralph Hundley.

Phyllis Turner

Phyllis Leonard Turner- age 85 of Knoxville passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born June 13, 1935 to the late Garland and Gladys Leonard.
Graveside service will be Monday, January 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Narrow Ridge Cemetery.

Kern Elkins

Kern Elkins, age 68, of Andersonville, TN, passed away on January 13th, 2021. Kern and his twin sister Fern were born in Knoxville, TN on February 8, 1952 to Luther Burl and Rena Elkins. After graduating from Halls High School, Kern met and later married the love of his life, Charlotte. Kern and Charlotte were best friends and were proudly married for more than 46 years. Kern was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He would light up when any of his of grandchildren were around or mentioned.

Velma Jean Lynch

Velma Jean (Ellison) Lynch-age 90 of Sharps Chapel passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. She was a longtime member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Herbert Lynch; daughter, Sharon Dyke; granddaughter, Marnie Graham; sister, Eileen Rockstead.

Survivors: daughter, Cassandra Kay Tolliver and husband, A. C.; son-in-law, Warren Dyke; three grandchildren, Todd Dyke and wife, Rena; Trevor Dyke; McKinley Tolliver; nephew, Ronald Greer.

Jessie Fern Lovitt

Jessie F. Lovitt-age 85 of Clinton passed away Wednesday morning, January 13, 2021 at her home. She was born June 1, 1935 in Pineville, Kentucky. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Farmington Hills, Michigan. Preceded in death by husband, James Lovitt.
Survivors: daughter, Leslie Lovitt of Clinton; sons, Mathew Lovitt and wife, Hazel of Sevierville; Rickie Lovitt and wife, Kimberly of Greenville, Michigan. Four granddaughters, Maggie Temple, Jessica Ottinger, Sara Lovitt, Serina Struth. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Faye Chesney Henegar

Faye Chesney Henegar-age 90 of Luttrell, born October 3, 1930 passed away Monday afternoon, January 11, 2021 at NHC Healthcare. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Dora Chesney. Preceded in death by husband, Helton Henegar; brother, Roy Chesney; sisters, Nelma Jean Chesney Weaver; Gladdis Reeves and Shirley Chesney.

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Helen W. Fritts

Helen W. Fritts – 94 of Louisville, passed away at her home after a long illness on January 11, 2021. She was a lifelong member of West Side Baptist Church. Helen enjoyed church work and it was one of many joys in her life.

She is preceded in death by husband, Howard L. Fritts; grandson, Daniel J. Fritts; parents, Thompson and Sally Wright; sister, Birdie Parsons; brothers, Emerson, James and Hayden Wright. Helen is survived by children, Randall and Jeanie Fritts; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and brothers, Ray and Bill Wright.

Joanne Crawford Lynch Roegelein

Joanne Roegelein-age 80 of Corryton, born March 18, 1940 passed away Saturday morning, January 9, 2021 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by husbands, James E. Lynch and Perry Roegelein; son, Franklin Lynch; daughter Elizabeth Lynch; parents, Joe and Dora Crawford; three brothers.

Survivors: son, James A. Lynch and wife, Donna; three brothers and sisters-in-law; three sisters and brothers-in-law; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.

Judith Ann Couch

Judith Ann Couch-age 74 of Powell passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by parents, John and Wanda Bradley; son, Russell Logsdon; brother, John Bradley.

Survivors: daughters, Sherry Curtis and husband, Douglas; Lorrie Logsdon and fiancé, Mark Wallace; five grandchildren, Hope Logsdon, Sarah, Heather, Lindsey and Tony; three great-grandchildren; one nephew, John Bradley; three nieces, Judith, Edith and Darlene.

Larry E. Hensley, Sr.

Larry E. Hensley-age 71 of Luttrell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was a member and Deacon for 35 years of Jim Town Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Andrew J., Sr. and Mossie L. (Muncey) Hensley; son, Larry E. Hensley, Jr.; brothers, William “Dick” Hensley, Andrew (A. J.) Hensley, Gene Hensley; father and mother-in-law, Estel and Juanita Kitts.

Ronald L. Damewood

Ronnie L. “Bubby” Damewood-age 67 of Maynardville went home to be with his Lord Monday, January 4, 2021 at his home. He was saved and born again watching T.V. evangelist, Jimmy Swaggart. He was preceded in death by parents, Clyde and Christine Damewood.

Survivors: son, Daniel Lee Damewood; two grandchildren, three sisters; two brothers and several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Faustine Nicely Beeler

Nema Faustine Beeler, age 93, of Luttrell, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Holston Healthcare. She was born April 27, 1927, and was a member of Emory Valley Baptist Church.
She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and those who have gone before her: parents, Rev. Clyde Nicely Sr. (1981) and Kate (1995); husband, Sammie Beeler (1987); daughter, Susan Weaver (2010); sisters, Dorothy Cloud (2020), Helen Huskey (2016), and Gaynell Nicely (1932); and brother, Clyde Nicely Jr. (2018).

Benjamin Daniel Moyers

Benjamin Daniel Moyers-age 79 of Maynardville went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his home. Benny was a 74-year member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly, Luttrell and served as a Deacon for 57 years. He lived and loved to serve the Lord, Jesus Christ, to one day live with Him forever. He studied the Bible faithfully and instilled this trait into his family. Benny was an adoring husband to his sweetheart, Wanda and they enjoyed camping with the family, hunting and playing Phase 10. He loved to laugh and cutup with those he loved.

Shirley Mae Raley

Shirley Mae (Tharp) Raley-age 83 of Maynardville, born March 12, 1937 passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was formerly employed as a C.N.A. with Hillcrest Nursing Home. Preceded in death by parents, Willie and Mary Jane Tharp; husband, Henry C. Raley; daughter, Tamra Raley; brother, Bruce Tharp; sister, Helen Raley.

Dan Robert Berry

Dan Robert Berry – 79 of Andersonville went home to be with his Lord Friday, January 1, 2021. He was a charter member of Community Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was the Choir Director for many years. Robert and his family traveled for 40 years singing as The Berry Family.

Allen C. Yates

Allen Chester Yates-age 67 of Blaine, born November 23, 1953 passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was saved at and a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, Rutledge. He worked as a truck drive for many years with Claiborne Trucking, Burkhart Trucking and Renfro Construction. Preceded in death by parents, Chester and Shirley (Williams) Yates.

Larry K. Fox

Larry K. Fox-age 74 of Washburn went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, December 27, 2020 at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a member, deacon and chairman of the Deacon Board of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Washburn. Preceded in death by wife, Sharon Maxine Fox; parents, David and Grace Fox; sisters, Infant Judy Fox, Sue Idol and Nancy Collins; brother, Tom Fox.

J. T. "J-Bird" Washam

James T. “J-Bird” Washam-age 81 of Luttrell went to be with our Lord Jesus Thursday, December 24, 2020 at his home. He was a member of The Lighthouse, Luttrell. He was a former Union County Commissioner, Luttrell Volunteer Fireman, Union County Reserve Deputy Sheriff. He was employed for over 30 years at the Luttrell Mine under all five owners. He was the son of the late Lawrence Otis and Opal Booker Washam; also preceded in death by brother, Roger O. Washam; sister, Lana Deanna Beeler.

David Edward Hurst

David Edward Hurst, age 60, of Tazewell, Tennessee, born February 25, 1960, was called to his heavenly home on December 25, 2020, while at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He professed faith in Jesus Christ and received Him into his heart as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of the Caney Valley American Christian Church but attended Faithful Baptist Church in Bean Station, TN. Believing, having faith and receiving the gift of salvation empowered him to live his life in victory for God!
