Houston Duane Grimm

Houston Duane Grimm, precious infant son of Joe and Mindy, was born and died at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville Tennessee at 1:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

He is survived by loving parents Joseph and Melinda (Rouse) Grimm. Grandparents Madonna (Daniel) Foy, Rob (Denise) Grimm, and Clifford and Kathy (Walker) Rouse. Houston is also survived by a host of Great Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and cousins.

Any future plans for burial of ashes or private family memorial will be decided by parents at a later date.

Peter W. Green

Peter W. Green passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning July 25, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
This loving husband, father of 4, grandfather (Umpy) to 10 and great grandfather to 2 was a man of faith, love, strength, wit and wisdom.
Pete loved to compliment workers, admired a strong handshake, had a great smile and the absolute best sense of humor.

Norman J. Brantley

Norman J. Brantley-age 72 of Sharps Chapel passed away Friday evening, July 23, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital at Tennova North surrounded by loved ones. Norman was born March 26. 1949 in Sharps Chapel to Roy and Willie (White) Brantley. Norman proudly served his country in the Viet Nam War and was a U. S. Army Veteran. Norman was strong, kind, loving and supportive father and husband. His Knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family and he was also a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Bill Loy

Bill Loy – age 90 of Maynardville, beloved husband and father, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 22, 2021. He was saved as a young man and was a member of Alder Springs Baptist Church. Bill graduated Horace Maynard High School then joined the Army but was honorably discharged due to a medical condition. He worked for his father-in-law, Kermit Maples at Maples Chevrolet in Harriman for several years. He then worked for JFG Coffee Co. and retired from Roddy Mfg. Co. (Coca-Cola) after 27 years of service.

Jay Dyke

Jay Dyke-age 92 of Sharps Chapel went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church and a retired Teamster with T.V.A. He was the son of the late James and Clatis (Welch) Dyke; also preceded in death by wife, Jewell Sharp Dyke; son, Larry Dyke; daughters, Pamela Dyke Collins, Debra Dyke; grandson, Jason Collins and Jimmy Brantley; great-grandson, Dillon Collins brothers and sisters, Robert, Carl, Lonnie, Mary, Fern and Maggie.

Matthew Herbert Nicley

Matthew Herbert Nicley-age 41 of Washburn passed away suddenly Saturday, July 17, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Powder Springs Missionary Baptist Church and an employee of Hurst Trailers. Preceded in death by brother, Brad Nicley; grandparents, Fred and Maurine Nicley; Inez Merritt; special great-aunt, Nola “Auntie” Merritt.

Ellen Christine Vollmer-age 55 of Maynardville, born November 16, 1965 in Cincinnati, Ohio passed away suddenly Monday, July 19, 2021 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She had been a resident of Willow Ridge Center in Maynardville for the past 8 years and was of the Catholic faith.
Ellen is survived by a sister, Fran Graves and a brother, David Vollmer, both of Ohio.

Faye was a retired employee of Palm Beach following which she ran her own store (Carlyle’s) for 12 years and worked at Kay’s Market for 14 years. She was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1959. Preceded in death by husband, Carlyle Austin Cook; parents, Raymond Hale Tyree and Helen Ruth Weaver; brother, Doyle Edward Tyree.

Billy Ray Shoffner-age 81 of Sharps Chapel, born June 25, 1940 passed away Tuesday morning, July 13, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Highland Missionary Baptist Church. He was the son of the late John D. and Gracie (Shelby) Shoffner. Earl Samuel Savage Sr., age 77 of Maynardville passed away on Monday, July 5th, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Washburn. He was saved during a revival in March of 1959 at Warwick’s Chapel Baptist Church held by Loy Shelton and Jess Qualls. Preceded in death by loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Whitson Savage; parents: George Harvey & Dollie Savage. Brothers: George Allen Savage & Johnny C. Savage.
