Robert Wilson Coffey

Robert Wilson Coffey – age 37 formerly of Thorn Hill, passed away August 7, 2021. He was born September 9, 1983.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Everett and Betty (Wolfenbarger) Coffey. He leaves behind to mourn his death, Father and stepmother, Rick (Cynthia) Coffey; mother, Salina Godwin; children, Caden, Landon, Peyton, Josie, Jace, Sophie, and Poppie; maternal grandparents, James Whitener and Shirley Wong; sisters, Shelly (Shannon) Greene, Haley Coffey and Jessica Gray; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and several cousins.

Robert G. England

Robert Greene England-age 93 of Knoxville, born October 31, 1927 passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his home. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in World War II and the Korean War. Robert was of the Baptist faith and a member of Lyon Lodge #29 F. & A.M., Independence, Oregon. Robert was an educator, curricular developer, school principle, technical writer and aviator. He was the son of the late Edward and Eleanor England; also preceded in death by sister, Shirley Steward.

Harry Baker, Sr.

Harry Edward Baker, Sr. – age 88 of Corryton, Tennessee, went to meet his Lord and Savior on August 4, 2021. He passed away at Tennova North Medical Center in Powell, Tennessee. Harry was born June 16, 1933 in Towson, Maryland to Lillian M. and Harry E. Baker. After graduating from Towson High School, he enlisted in the Navy in 1952 for four years of active duty and then four years of inactive duty. During his active duty he served on the aircraft carrier USS Gilbert Islands during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in February 1960.

Diane Bailey Simmons

Diane Bailey Simmons-age 58 of Luttrell passed away Tuesday morning, August 3, 2021at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Girldine (Nicley) Bailey.
Survivors: son, Steve Hensley; daughters, Crystal (Randall) Nicley; Brook Collins. Sisters, Joanne (Paul) Cardwell; Dorothy (Brody) Hickman; brothers, Harold, Leon and David Bailey. Three grandchildren, one great-grandson. Several nieces and nephews.

Betty J. Lawson

Betty J. Lawson-age 77 of Maynardville passed away Monday morning, August 2, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed visiting several area churches. Preceded in death by parents, Thurman and Mae Wilkerson; sister, Leona Wilkerson; brothers, Kenneth Wilkerson and Ed Wilkerson.

Bobby Gene Norris

Bobby Gene Norris Jr. age 47 of Maynardville, TN peacefully passed away on Monday, August 2nd 2021. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his dad Bobby Gene Norris Sr. and his brother Greg Emmit Norris. He is survived by his daughter MJ, mom Connie Norris Perry, brother Scottie Norris, niece Abbey Norris, nephew-in-law Marty White, sister Crystal Jones, stepfather Tom Perry and former sister-in-law Jenny Norris, cousin, Angie Covington and many other family and friends.

Mildred Bernice Flatford

Mildred Bernice (Rutherford) Flatford, age 91 of Andersonville, passed away on August 1, 2021. She was a long-time member of Byrams Fork Baptist Church. She raised her family of six boys along with four of her husband’s siblings and provided care for her elderly parents. Their home was always open to those who needed a place to stay, a warm bed and a meal. She was a very special lady and loved by so many.

Hershel Bowen

Hershel Bowen – age 80 of New Tazewell born on November 29, 1940, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 31, 2021. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age. Hershel was a prominent businessman in Claiborne County for many years. He was the founder of Oakwood Furniture Mfg., Inc., in New Tazewell and was very involved with the Claiborne County Manufacturers Association and a leader in bringing industry into the county. In his leisure time Hershel enjoyed farming and watching sports. He loved the Vols!

Kenneth L. Wilson

Mr. Kenneth L. Wilson, age 88 of Maynardville, formerly of LaFollette, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021. He was a Christian and of the Baptist Faith. Preceded in death by First Wife, Nina Wilson, Son, Michael Wilson, Parents, Delmas and Meice Ayers Wilson, Brothers, J.R. and Ernest Wilson.

Survivors: Wife, Ina Tharp Wilson; Daughter, Dorothy Anipen; 3 Step-Children; several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren; Brothers, Ray, Ronnie, and Jimmy Wilson; Sisters, Lois Raines and Sandra Kitts. Several Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tammy Lynn (Roark) Carter

Tammy Lynn (Roark) Carter-age 59 of Sharps Chapel passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. Tammy was saved at Leatherwood Baptist Church and attended Capps Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sewell and Bernice (Bowman) Roark; father-in-law, Charles Carter; mother-in-law, Ann Lindsey and husband, Paul; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Bickford, Debbie Bolden, Faye (Thee) Widner; brothers, Russell (Deloris) Roark, Carson Roark; brother-in-law, Rudy Love.

Houston Duane Grimm

Houston Duane Grimm, precious infant son of Joe and Mindy, was born and died at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville Tennessee at 1:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

He is survived by loving parents Joseph and Melinda (Rouse) Grimm. Grandparents Madonna (Daniel) Foy, Rob (Denise) Grimm, and Clifford and Kathy (Walker) Rouse. Houston is also survived by a host of Great Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and cousins.

Any future plans for burial of ashes or private family memorial will be decided by parents at a later date.

Ethan Chase Blevins – age 26 of Knoxville, born July 24, 1995. God called home a young life on Wednesday, July 27, 2021. He was a loving father to his 18-month-old son, Enzo Collin Blevins of Knoxville. His smile will be missed, but his memory will be held dear to us. We ask for your prayers in this time of sadness.

Gary Thomas Brantley-age 67 of New Tazewell passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Parkwest Medical Center. He was a loving husband, step-father and grandfather who loved people and loved life. Peter W. Green

Peter W. Green passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning July 25, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
This loving husband, father of 4, grandfather (Umpy) to 10 and great grandfather to 2 was a man of faith, love, strength, wit and wisdom.
Pete loved to compliment workers, admired a strong handshake, had a great smile and the absolute best sense of humor.

Norman J. Brantley

Norman J. Brantley-age 72 of Sharps Chapel passed away Friday evening, July 23, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital at Tennova North surrounded by loved ones. Norman was born March 26. 1949 in Sharps Chapel to Roy and Willie (White) Brantley. Norman proudly served his country in the Viet Nam War and was a U. S. Army Veteran. Norman was strong, kind, loving and supportive father and husband. His Knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family and he was also a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Bill Loy

Bill Loy – age 90 of Maynardville, beloved husband and father, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 22, 2021. He was saved as a young man and was a member of Alder Springs Baptist Church. Bill graduated Horace Maynard High School then joined the Army but was honorably discharged due to a medical condition. He worked for his father-in-law, Kermit Maples at Maples Chevrolet in Harriman for several years. He then worked for JFG Coffee Co. and retired from Roddy Mfg. Co. (Coca-Cola) after 27 years of service.

Jay Dyke

Jay Dyke-age 92 of Sharps Chapel went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church and a retired Teamster with T.V.A. He was the son of the late James and Clatis (Welch) Dyke; also preceded in death by wife, Jewell Sharp Dyke; son, Larry Dyke; daughters, Pamela Dyke Collins, Debra Dyke; grandson, Jason Collins and Jimmy Brantley; great-grandson, Dillon Collins brothers and sisters, Robert, Carl, Lonnie, Mary, Fern and Maggie.

Matthew Herbert Nicley

Matthew Herbert Nicley-age 41 of Washburn passed away suddenly Saturday, July 17, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Powder Springs Missionary Baptist Church and an employee of Hurst Trailers. Preceded in death by brother, Brad Nicley; grandparents, Fred and Maurine Nicley; Inez Merritt; special great-aunt, Nola “Auntie” Merritt.
