Alma Ruth Paul

Alma Paul-age 83 of Maynardville passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at North Knoxville Medical Center. Alma was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and worked at Standard Knitting Mills and Union Knit Wear. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. B. Paul; parents, Jack and Nola Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Arley Tharp; brother, Paul Smith; brother-in-law, Don Hensley; great-nephews, Tucker Inklebarger, Sylas Jay and Creed Richardson.

Wayne Oaks

Anthony Wayne Oaks-age 54 of Luttrell passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at U. T. Medical Center. He was a member of Home Faith Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, L. G. Oaks.

Survivors: Children, Anthony Wayne Oaks, Jr., Robby Lee Oaks, Hunter Ridge Oaks, Isabella Marie Oaks; four grandchildren. Mother, Loretta Arnold; sisters, Melissa Stevens, Tabitha Wyrick and April Edgar.

Dale Cole

Woodrow Dale Cole-age 76 of Maynardville passed away Monday morning, November 1, 2021 at his home. He was saved at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. Dale was a retired employee of the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation. Preceded in death by parents, Clayton and Flossie (Johnson) Cole; wife, Vontella Cole; step-daughter, Barbara Baker; step-son Keith Baker.

Helen June Johnson

Helen June Johnson, age 80 of Union County went to her Heavenly home on October 30, 2021. She was a member of Ailor Dale Baptist Church also a faithful attendant of Oaks Chapel. Helen was a strong faithful woman and served alongside her spouse (Earl) in the ministry doing God’s work for more than 60 years. She loved everyone and always saw the best in everybody. She will be missed by so many. However, her legacy and compassion will continue to be shown through her children, Grand and Great Grandchildren.

Mary Ellen Smith

Mary Ellen Smith – age 80 of Knoxville, formerly of Maynardville, passed away October 31, 2021, peacefully surrounded by her family. Mary had a great love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her churches, Fairmont and Cross Roads Presbyterian.

Annette Marie Townsend

Annette Marie Townsend-age 55 of Luttrell passed away Sunday morning, October 31, 2021 at her home. She was a member of Butterfly Gap Baptist Church in Maryville, Tennessee. Preceded in death by parents, John and Cleo Davis; grandparents, Carl and Della Garner; brother, Carl Lee Davis.

Howard Wade Biggs

Howard Wade Biggs-age 78 of Luttrell passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 29, 2021. Mr. Biggs was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Biggs and Dorothy Ryder. Wife, Dorothy Biggs, brothers, Jim Ryder, Alan Ryder and Rocky Ryder, and sisters, Lisa Biggs and Tammy Biggs.

He is survived by his children Dwayne Biggs (Jennifer), Rebecca Culver (Josh), Missy McGinnis (Terry), grandchildren: Deanna, Ava, Brody, Kaylie, Taylan, Michelle, Cassie, Samantha, and Cheyenne.

Terry G. Savage

Terry Glenn Savage-age 58 of Washburn passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at U. T. Medical Center. He was a former employee of Wolf Tree Service. Preceded in death by wife, Tammy Savage; parents, Delmer Ray and Peggy Ann Savage; brothers, Ray and Ricky Savage; sisters, Kay Savage and Gail Riffey.

Survivors: sons, Dustin and Brandie Savage, Rusty Savage, all of Washburn; five grandchildren, Gracie, Cloie and Levi Savage, James and Skylar Savage; sisters, Patsy Geams, Teresa Clifton, Tammy Hankins; brother, Gary Savage. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Joe Hayes

Joseph Allen Hayes-age 37 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Tuesday, October 26, 2021. He had professed faith in Jesus Christ and was of the Baptist faith. Joe was preceded in death by father, Jackie Hayes; brother, Jackie Hayes, Jr.
Survivors: mother, Anna Hayes; three children, Tanner Hayes, Ethan Hayes and Gracie Hayes, all of Maynardville; nephew, Dustin Hayes; niece, Annalinne Hayes; aunt, Mable Flatford and husband, Elwood. Several cousins and other relatives along with a host of friends.

Ricky Johnny Tharp

Ricky Johnny Tharp-age 61 of Maynardville passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his home. He professed faith in Christ as his Saviour. He was preceded in death by parents, John and Dora (Wolard) Tharp; grandparents, Will and Vesta Wolard, Lee and Ollie Tharp.

Survivors: brothers, Bill Tharp and Bobby (Candy) Tharp; sisters, Diane (Jeff) Brown and Tammy (James) Wynn, all of Maynardville. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Chub Masingo

Chub (Charles) Masingo-age 68 of Sharps Chapel, born May 15, 1953 died Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Kasie Ann Masingo; parents, Sillus and Mattie Masingo; siblings, Donald and Mary Masingo;7 special nephew, Thomas Masingo; brothers-in-law, Charlie Kistler and Ken Rutherford.

Ernest Logan Beason-age 79 of Maynardville passed away Wednesday morning, October 20, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Free Fellowship Pentecostal Church. Preceded in death by son, Jimmy Beason, parents, John and Abby (Shope) Beason; brothers, H. D. Beason and Joe Neil Beason; sister, Gerri Beason.

Glen Nicely, Jr.

Glen Nicely, Jr.-age 56 of Washburn, born August 10, 1965 passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his dad, Glen Nicely. He was a truck driver with Carmeuse Mining, Luttrell. He was also a member of Elm Springs Baptist Church.

Johnny Edward Lawson-age 71 of Luttrell, born September 1, 1950 passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired employee of Bailey Company and presently employed with Worldwide Equipment. Preceded in death by parents, Cornelous and Betty (Rose) Lawson; brothers, Jackie Lawson, Jerry Lawson and Kenneth Lawson.

Joyce Maxine (Cook) Clark-age 85 of Sharps Chapel born May 20, 1936 passed away Friday evening, October 15, 2021 at U. T. Medical Center. She was preceded in death by parents, Sam and Louvernia (Lay) Cook; husband, Roy Clark; daughter, Sandra Hobock; sons, Kenny and Ronald Clark; daughter-in-law, Debbie Clark. Brothers and sisters, Lonnie, Owen, Jack, Glen, Lynn, Lillis, Minnie, Walter, Ailor and Taylor Cook, Lucy Eastridge, Ann (Cook) Shoffner, Alvilda (Cook) Shoffner.

Leonard Weaver

Leonard Weaver-age 62 of Luttrell, born October 15, 1958 passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. Member of Ailordale Baptist Church and attended New Pleasant Gap Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Silas and Nelma Jean (Chesney) Weaver.
Survived by wife of 40 years, Tessia Weaver; brothers, Everett (June) Weaver, Charlie Weaver, Harold (Angela) Weaver, Dayrrell (Kathy) Weaver, Daniel (Shirley) Weaver, Rusty (Cindy) Weaver; sisters, Eva Nelson, Charlotte (Bobby) Isgette, Barbara (Terry) Thomas. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dollie Cooper Muncey

Dollie Kay Cooper-age 45 of Knoxville was taken from us Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Dollie Kay was born February 18, 1976 to Sherlene Childress Cooper and Gary Cooper. She was one of 10 children. Preceded in death by father, Gary Leroy Cooper; paternal grandparents, Guy and Dollie Cooper; maternal grandparents, James and Martha Childress; sister, Judy Ann Cooper-Mebine, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Reverend Douglas Dewayne Kitts

Reverend Douglas Dewayne Kitts – age 50 of Sharps Chapel, born November 2, 1970, went home to be with Jesus Thursday, October 7, 2021. He was saved April 4, 1980 as a 10 year old little boy at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Dewayne was married to his best friend, Crystal for 30 years and they enjoyed driving on the open road. Dewayne was the best daddy, father-in-law and an even better papaw. He was his family’s Superman and will be greatly missed.
