Eddie Joseph Kitts “Moose”-age 63 of Maynardville, January 20, 1959- January 1, 2023 peacefully passed away at U. T. Medical Center after being ill for some time. He was of the Baptist faith and believed in the Lord. He is preceded in death by parents, Estel and Juanita Kitts; sister, Janice Wyrick; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Larry Hensley.

William Frank “Bill” Kroner-age 84 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Monday, January 2, 2023 at his home. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during the Korean War and was a former member of the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Bill was a retired over-the-road truck driver. Preceded in death by parents, William Sam and Margaret C. (Keating) Kroner.

Survivors: three children along with one brother, Wayne Kroner. Special friends and neighbors, Rickie Blair and Ann Rudd of Maynardville.

Nicky Van Hall – 60 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully January 2, 2023 at home.

Rev. Michael (Mike) Miller-age 62 of Luttrell went home to meet his Savior on Sunday morning, January 1, 2023 at his home. He was a member of New Fellowship Full Gospel Church and a loving husband, father and friend. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Hazel (Damewood) Miller of Luttrell and his sisters, Kathy Parker and Penny Letner of Luttrell.

Jonathan “Cliff” Phifer-age 32 of Washburn passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1990 and was a member of Glory Bound Baptist Church. He loved life and always had a smile on his face. He was a great Dad and loved his wife and children with all his heart. Preceded in death by grandparents, Dortha Harrell and Allen Harrell.

James Michael “Little Ed” Edwards-age 55 of Maynardville passed away Saturday morning, December 31, 2022 at his home. He was a great father and a friend to all. Preceded in death by son, James Adam Edwards; mother, Jewell (Cole) Edwards; brother, John Martin Edwards; grandparents, Woodrow and Hettie Cole.

George Paris Sharp-age 74 of Sharps Chapel (Union County) went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired employee of Powell Valley Electric Co-op. George was preceded in death by wife of 39 years, Mary Ruth (Harvey) Sharp; son, George Wayne Sharp. Parents, John and Rose (Shoffner) Sharp; brothers, Dave Sharp, Lee Bob Sharp; sisters, Polly Sheckles, Lela Mae Weaver, Linda Harrell, Faye Hicks and Sue Bailey. Father and mother-in-law, Robert and Mossie Harvey.

Anna Louise (Vaught) Oaks – age 55 of Maynardville, passed away suddenly December 29, 2022 at home.

She is preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Christine Vaught; and brother, Joe Vaught. Anna is survived by husband, Ronald Oaks; children, Tabatha Johnson, Corey Oaks and Tyler Oaks; grandchildren, Tanner Hayes, Ethan Hayes and Payton Johnson; brothers, Jerry Vaught, and Tim Vaught; sisters, Brenda Johnson, Darlene Huffman and Sandra Vaught; and many nieces and nephews.

Harrell D. Kidwell-age 73 of Washburn went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at his home. He was a member of Mt. Eager Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Sherman H. Kidwell; mother, Clara B. Kidwell; brother, Sherman Henry Kidwell; sisters, Lillie M. Nicley and Infant Mable Kidwell.

Lora Jean Johnson - was born on March 25, 1931 and passed away on December 26, 2022. She was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church. She graduated from Young High School and received a Bachelor in Library Science from the University of Tennessee.

Lynn Fields Ball – 67 of Sharps Chapel, passed away on December 24th at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Lynn was a substitute teacher, assistant, and PTO member, for many years, at Sharps Chapel Elementary School. Although, she is probably most known for her love and collection of Dr. Pepper. Lynn was kindhearted, welcoming, and the type of person who treated someone like she knew them for years. She was known to many as Ms. Lynn and touched the lives of many people in the Sharps Chapel Community.

Virginia (Jenny) Southerland-age 75 of Knoxville passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Mary Mabe; brother, Eddie; niece, Kristie.
She is survived by husband, Mack; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Jayme; granddaughter and husband, Corey and Austin; great-grandson, Riley. Sister, Marcinia along with several nieces and nephews.

Cassandra Kay (Lynch) Tolliver-age 70 of Jefferson City passed away Wednesday evening, December 21, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was born October 29, 1952 and raised in the Sharps Chapel Community of Union County. Kay dedicated her life to acts of service and caring for those she loved. Along with being a loyal mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, she was an avid gardener, talented seamstress, and film lover. Preceded in death by daughter, Marnie Tolliver-Graham (May 21, 2019); parents, Herbert and Velma Lynch; sister, Sharon Dykes.

Delcie D. Pike-age 92 of Maynardville passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 at Claiborne Medical Center. She was a member of Bryams Fork Baptist Church, Andersonville. Preceded in death by parents, Oda and Gertie (Ridenour) Pike; brothers, Bradford, Hillard, Lillard, Hushell and Kenneth Pike; sisters, Dolfie Poore, Eva Pike and Winfred Trula Edwards.

Survivors: sister, Mildred Ryder of Tazewell; Delcie made her home with her nephew, Gary Edwards, Jr. and his wife, Christine of Maynardville. A host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Maxie Raley Monroe of Knoxville went to be with Jesus Friday morning, December 16, 2022 at her home. Maxie was the oldest living member of Hubbs Grove Baptist Church and also attended Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church. She was a former employee of South Central Bell and later worked at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Garland C. (Jack) Monroe; son, Jackie Rhea Monroe; parents, Harley Isaac, Sr.

Darrell Wayne Langley – 67 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He loved to play golf, listen to music and was known for his sense of humor. Darrell was in the upholstery business for over 40 years.

He is preceded in death by parents, Ed and Helen Langley. Darrell is survived by wife, Lenore Langley; children, Cheyenne Langley Joiner, Joseph Joiner, Louis Siri and Breann Johnson; and grandson, Joey Johnson.

Eula England Bradley-age 82 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Monday afternoon, December 12, 2022 at U. T. Medical Center. She was preceded in death by parents, William Frank and Basil (Wise) England; brothers, Jim England and Robert England; sisters, Lucille Carr and June Boggs.

Charles Jimmy Sexton – age 84 of Maynardville, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022. He was born on July 25, 1938 and attended Salem Primitive Church. Jimmy was a member of the Smoky Mountain Model-A Club and was well known by the Pinto on the Pole in Maynardville. He graduated from Horace Maynard High, where he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years.

Lula B. (Cook) Melton-age 81 of Oak Ridge, formerly of Knoxville passed away Sunday morning, December 11, 2022 at her home. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Clinton and retired as a L.P.N. She was the daughter of the late Floyd O. and Minnie (Miller) Cook; also preceded in death by sister, Doby Jean Cook.

Ronald Lewis Brantley-age 59 of Sharps Chapel passed away Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2022 at Tri-State Manor in Harrogate. He was a very honest and dependable employee of the U. S. Postal Service at Weisgarber Road and Pepsi Cola, Knoxville and a friend to all. He had a strong faith and belief in God. Preceded in death by parents, Robert Lewis Brantley and Bertha Sue (Graham) Tipton.
