Robert Hamilton

Issac Robert Hamilton-age 82 of Maynardville was born October 5, 1939 passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1957 and then attended Lincoln Memorial University. He was a retired employee of the Knoxville News-Sentinel with 38 years of service. Robert loved to his community and was an active member of the Union County Rescue Squad for over 40 years where he received training as a First Responder.

Wayne Mize

Wayne Edward Mize – age 80, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Beverly Park Place. Born April 26, 1941 to Minnis Clay and Dolphia (Edmondson) Mize. He graduated from Horace Maynard High School, serving as class president each year. After graduation he worked for Tennessee Department of Employment Security for several years. Then was self-employed, owning Wayne’s Old Fashion Dairy Bar and other businesses. He loved drag racing, competing at national and local events and in his later years could be seen riding his motorcycle or ATV.

Judy Lynn Smith

Judy Lynn Smith – age 64 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2022 surrounded by family. She was a loving sister, wonderful aunt and a great friend. Judy was a former employee for many years of Booker’s One Stop Market and Jaxx Discount Tobacco Store.

She is preceded in death by father and mother, Charlie “Hobert” Smith and Elizabeth Smith; sisters, Connie Smith and Linda Smith Chesher. Judy is survived by sister, Shirley Munsey; brothers, Paul (Juanita) Smith and Charles (Beth) Smith; and special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Randall Eugene Jones

Randall Eugene Jones – age 64 of Maynardville, passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, March 2, 2022. He was an expert in archery and loved hunting. Randy went to work at Y-12 when he was 19 and retired from there in 2011 after 34 years. He also loved the Vols and his Diet Coke.

Harold Ailor

Harold Ailor - 85 of Corryton, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2022. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and dedicated his life to creating a nature sanctuary with the preservation of wildlife as his focus. Harold is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 58 years, Patricia. He is survived by his children, Rob Ailor and Carmen Kartiganer; his granddaughters, Rachel and Emily Kartiganer; and his best friend and loyal dog, Bubba. No services are planned at this time. Wayne M. Hopkins, Sr.

Wayne Morris Hopkins, Sr.-age 80 of Sharps Chapel passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, February 23, 2022 at his home. He considered Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Sharps Chapel his home church. He retired as a mechanical engineer with General Electric. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather as well as the backbone of the family. Preceded in death by parents, Clifton A. and Fannie (Reeves) Hopkins.

Carlos A. Maldonado-Rodriguez, Jr.

Carlos A. Maldonado-Rodriguez Jr., de 37 años, falleció el 24 de Febrero de 2022 luego de una valiente lucha contra el cáncer. Nació el 21 de Noviembre de 1984 en Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

Carlos (conocido como Alberto por la familia) era una estrella del deporte por naturaleza. Excediendo en cualquier deporte que probó, desde béisbol hasta baloncesto, voleibol e incluso fútbol. Anna Darlene Eastridge

Anna Darlene Eastridge-age 54 of Sharps Chapel passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was a member of Taylor’s Grove Baptist Church and a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1985. Preceded in death by father, Fred Lee Eastridge; brother, Jody Lee Eastridge; former-husband, David Wayne Kitts.

James Allen Hall

James Allen Hall-age 53 of Blaine passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Preceded in death by parents, Jimmy and Rosemary Hall.
Survivors: children, Cassandra Hall, Kaila hall, Jaime hall, Jesse hall and Jadyn Hall, all of Illinois; several grandchildren. Brother, John Hall and wife, Amanda of Luttrell; sisters, Gloria Ingle, Joanna Carroll and husband, Frank, all of Illinois. Special niece, Tee Eldridge of Maynardville along with several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Ludie Wynn Parker

Ludie W. Parker – age 69 of Corryton, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 surrounded by her family. She attended Raccoon Valley Baptist Church. Ludie loved gardening and animals.

She is preceded in death by husband, Jay Glen Parker; parents, Sam and Nellie Wynn; sisters, Dollie Wynn and Lucy Hall; and brother, Willis Sam Wynn, Jr. Ludie is survived by brothers, Finley and Roy Wynn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeremiah Bennett

Jeremiah Arthur Bennett-age 45 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at his home. He was preceded in death by mother, Mary Margaret Bennett.
Survivors: daughters, Tiara Bennett; Montana Bennett; sons, Solomon Cochran, Sebastion Bennett and Bear Bennett; two grandchildren, Hunter Weaver and Alivia Weaver. Sister, Jennifer Gibson. Several other relatives and a host of friends.

Teresa Eldridge Long

Teresa Eldridge Long-age 55 of Maryville, formerly of Luttrell passed away suddenly Friday, February 18, 2022 in Knoxville. She was a Christian. Preceded in death by mother, Barbara Inman; sister, Kelly Henderson; nephew, Alex Childress; mother-in-law, Wanda Eldridge.
Survivors: husband of 7 years, Blake Long; sons, Alvin William Eldridge and wife, Tee Cheri Eldridge; Adam Author Eldridge; former husband, Alvin Author Eldridge; eight grandchildren. Sisters, Shannon Kay Wells, Elizabeth Johnson, Sonja Eldridge; brother, Jay Shores. Several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Betty Jo (Nicley) West

Betty Jo (Nicley) West-age 78 of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Monday morning, February 21, 2022 at home. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Highland Springs Baptist Church in Blaine. Preceded in death by husband, William Paris (Bill) West; parents, Oddie C., and Ethel Trula Mae Nicley; brothers, Carson Nicley, Brownie Nicley, Mark Nicley; sisters, Bessie McMahan; Bonnie Lorene Evans.

Tommy Lynn Rutherford

Tommy Lynn Rutherford-age 61 of Maynardville passed away Sunday morning, February 20, 2022 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a member of Free Fellowship Pentecostal Church, Maynardville. Preceded in death by mother, Virginia Baker; step-father, John Baker; son, Tommy James (T.J.) Rutherford; daughter, Alicia Lister; brother, Charles Rutherford; nephew, Josh Munsey.

J. M. Keck

J. M. “Jay” Keck – 93 passed into Heaven, Friday, February 18, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Maynardville before moving to Duffield, Virginia. J. M. was a member of Thomas Village Church in Duffield.

Lorene (Renie) Collins

Lorene (Renie) Collins-age 76 of Luttrell gained her wings Saturday afternoon, February 19, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She loved her family and grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wren and Adell (Ford) Collins; brother, Clay and Jim Collins; sisters Wanda Whitson and Evelyn Sands.

Deborah Ann Estes

Deborah Ann Estes – age 50 of Harrogate, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Friday, February 18, 2022. She was saved at the age of eight at Alder Springs Baptist Church in LaFollette and was a member of Shawanee Baptist Church. Deborah was a member of Eastern Star Shawanee Chapter #436 and an alumnus of Lincoln Memorial University. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend to all she knew.

Bob Sexton

Bobby E. (Bob) Sexton-age 75 of Maynardville passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 16, 2022 at Sacred Ground Hospice in Knoxville. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Bob was the owner/operator of Doug and Bob’s Body Shop in Maynardville for the past 47 years which was always a local gathering spot for neighbors and friends and where everyone was welcome. Bob’s garage was once voted the best in Union County and he always went the extra mile for his customers. He was an avid bass fisherman and loved Norris Lake along with other surrounding lakes.

Benny Mills

Bennie Wayne Mills – age 67 of Maynardville, changed his address to Heaven on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. A loving husband of 45 years, father, papaw and brother.

Kenny Winters

Kenneth Warren Winters, age 79, of Maynardville TN passed away Friday, February 11th, 2022. Kenny grew up in Maynardville where he attended Horace Maynard High School, graduating in 1960. He moved to West Virginia in his 20’s where he lived for twenty-five years. He moved back to Maynardville in the mid-90’s and lived there until his passing. Preceding him in death was his father, Raymond Winters, his mother, Ida Cooke Winters, his brothers, Edward and Raymond and his extended family, Dr. Joseph and Mary Jessie Ricketts.
