Jesus' Name
Names and titles of Jesus found in the Bible
At the start of the Gospel according to the Apostle John, we are told that John the Baptist bore witness that Jesus was the Christ. Years ago, because of my ignorance (lack of understanding or education), I thought Christ was Jesus’ last name. Then I learned that Christ is actually a title. Christ is the Greek form of the Hebrew word Messiah. A short definition would be “Anointed One” or “Chosen One.” I am not so sure this glorious title, and it is truly glorious, can by itself truly define the one who created the Earth.
Listed below are a few of Jesus' other titles from the Bible, along with their locations, so that you can read them in context. I hope these few other “titles” for Jesus encourage you to search the Bible for more.

That Apostle John tells us in verse 1:10 “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.” Matthew 16:20 says “Jesus the Christ,” so we could say Jesus the anointed one or “promised one” as in the promise made to Abraham. The promise to Abraham is detailed throughout the Old and New Testaments and is defined by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Galatians. (see Galatians 3:13-18 for a summary.
