Leadership Union County Explores Tourism and Agriculture Across the County

Leadership Union County continued its 2026 program with an engaging Tourism and Agriculture Day on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, led by Abby Thomas and Becca Hughes. The day highlighted the vital roles that agriculture, forestry, tourism, and small business development play in Union County's growth and success.

The cohort began the morning at the UT Extension Office in Maynardville, where participants were welcomed for a full day of presentations and discussions centered around the county’s agricultural heritage and tourism opportunities.

LUC class explores local businesses, mine on Industry Day

The Leadership Union County Class of 2022 enjoyed Industry Day on July 21. The day began with coffee and a quick breakfast at the Union County Museum. From the museum, facilitators Robbie and Gail Corum chauffeured the group to Clayton Homes in Maynardville. Bill Monroe and other Clayton employees summarized the history of manufactured home building and then provided a tour of the completely climate-controlled manufacturing facility.

Leadership class of 2021 learns lessons of local government

Colleen Beeler, Leadership Union County President, introduced the Class of 2021 to Government Day on July 20.
The itinerary began with a trip to the Union County courthouse to become acquainted with the elected officials. Kicking off the day was Judge Darryl Edmondson, Sessions and Juvenile Court, who related the duties of the various courts.

Leaders Grow in Union County

Leadership Union County (LUC) proudly gained four new graduates from the local program on September 17. The students enrolled in the six-month course beginning April 2019, attending a monthly class through September. The program focuses on developing leaders to help create a unified and progressive community by identifying opportunities and challenges, developing strategies, and providing resources to achieve community goals.
