Vivian Louise Chesney- age 64 of Luttrell passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at her home. She was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Vivian was born to the late James (Jim) Griffin and Bertha Griffin. She is also preceded in death by her father-in-law Richard (Dick) Chesney; brothers Donnie and Michael Griffin; and sister Jane Lakin.
Henry Howard Farrington, age 86, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019. Howard was born December 11, 1932 to Walter and Agnes Farrington. He was of Baptist faith and was Deacon and member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by parents Walter and Agnes Farrington; brother R.L. Farrington; and grandsons Nathan W. Farrington and John Howard Rader.
William Randall George – age 10 of Maynardville, joined his dad, Randall Allen George, grandmother, Pauline George and grandfather, Jimmy Haggard in the presence of the Lord on Friday, July 26, 2019. William survives as a hero, donating both of his kidneys to two children. William was saved at Vacation Bible School on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 and will be remembered by his smile that brightened a room and his pitch that made the world stand still.
Edward R. Brock, age 83, passed away July 26, 2019. He retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol after 25 years of service. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of Arlington Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by wife of 43 years, Janice and daughter-in-law Karen.
Survived by sons Gregg and Geoff (Lisa); grandson Dusty (Emily); granddaughters Micah and Jordon; great grandsons Hudson and Gavin; great granddaughter Nealie; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty Lou Arnwine-age 86 of Maynardville passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Claiborne Health and Rehab Center. Betty worked at Kirkland’s Country Kitchen for several years. Preceded in death by son, Ronald Arnwine; daughters, Linda Sizemore and Pam Loy; grandson, Blake Arnwine; parents, Rev. Floyd and Eva Arnwine; brothers, Charlie and Bill Arnwine; sisters, Polly Karns and Sue Arnwine; sons-in-law, Bob Sizemore and Dennis Loy.
Ralph Wesley “Wes” Myers age 54, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Uncle and Grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motor cycle. He tolerated the cats but loved the dogs. He was preceded in death by parents Scout and Mary Myers. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Kim Myers, daughter Jessica (Brandon) Bales, sons Johnathan Myers and Jordan Almond, Grandchildren; Ari, William, Richard and Ellie, Nieces and Nephews; Joseph, Hunter, Logan and Madison. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Betty Ruth Munsey-age 85 of Corryton passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at her home. She was greeted at the gates by her Heavenly Father and surrounded by her parents, Robert and Mattie (Elkins) Whitson; son, Robert (Bobby) Harrell; brother, Ralph Whitson; son-in-law, Charles (Chuck) Stout. Betty was a member of Luttrell Baptist Church.
Lester B. Tharp-age 62 of Maynardville passed away Friday morning, July 26, 2019 at his home. He was a member of Grace Full Gospel Baptist Church. Lester loved the Lord and met his wife, Sandy at church 21 years ago. Preceded in death by Hazel Tharp, grandparents, Esco and Ollie Tharp; aunts, Reba Tharp, Roselee Munsey; uncles, Dallas Tharp and John Tharp; cousin, Wesley Tharp.
Edward “Ed” Elmer Schultz – age 90 of Maynardville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Detroit Michigan and served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. Upon returning home to Michigan, he worked for Wonder Bread for 38 years until retiring.
Delbert Joe “Bud” Culberson, age 79, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Beulah Baptist Church. He was honored to serve in the US Army and receive a Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle). He was loved and will be missed by many.
Preceded in death by mother Billie E. Williams.
Survived by companion Lois Carr; daughter Louise McMurry (Everette, Jr.); son Sonny Culberson; son David Culberson; daughter Wendy Foster; aquired son Wes Sharp; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dustin Lynn Brown-age 37 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, July 21, 2019 at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville. Preceded in death by, father, Darrell Brown; uncle George Atkins.
Survivors: wife, Jessica Brown; children, Destiny and Haley Brown; Weston and Maverick Brown; step-children, Keely Booth, Mashara Noland, Walker Noland and Maddisyn Noland; mother, Tammy Atkins Brown; grandparents, Lillie and Bill Atkins, brothers, Eric Brown, Nathan Atkins and wife, Christina. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
Marie Smith Dozier-age 72 of Washburn passed away Saturday evening, July 20, 2019 at her home. She was a member of Nave Hill Baptist Church. Marie was the daughter of the late Fate and Lenior “Haynes” Smith. Also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Dozier; son, Timmy Dozier; daughter, Kim Loveday; brother, Paul Smith; sister, Bonnie Needham.
Shirley Jean Hunter Arnold-age 58 of Luttrell took her Heavenly flight on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at U. T. Medical Center. She was an active member of Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Most of all, we will miss her love, advice and compassion that would brighten everyone’s day. Preceded in death by parents, Earl Ray “Big John” Hunter and Katherine Lillian Hunter; sister, Katherine Darlene Muncey.
Steven Finley Marcum-age 39 of Knoxville said goodbye to his family and friends Friday, July 19, 2019 to be with his Lord. Steve L. Allen, age 68, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by parents Betty and R.C. Allen. Stephen “Woody” Woods - age 67 of Andersonville, went to Heaven with the Angels, Sunday morning as the sun came up on July 14, 2019.
Merlin Rose Johnson, age 82, of Andersonville, formerly of Knoxville, passed away July 17, 2019. She enjoyed her career in nursing at Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital and attending gospel singings. She was a wonderful cook, and spent much time in the kitchen preparing meals. She was preceded in death by her father Ed Miller and husband Virgil Johnson.
Robert L. (Speedy) Dyer-age 65 of Corryton went to be with the Lord Monday, July 1, 2019 at his home. He was a member of Corryton Church and was a retired employee of Tomcat USA. Preceded in death by his wife, Sally; father, Robert (Bob) Dyer; mother and step-father, Jean and Bill Danley.
Jerry Lynn Hubbs, Jr.-age 46 of Knoxville passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at his home following a brief battle with cancer. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Luttrell. Preceded in death by father, Jerry Lynn Hubbs, Sr.; mother, Joyce Bailey Cline; grandparents, Frank and Mary Bailey; granddaughter, Riley Hubbs.
Reverend Luther Vineyard Cox – age 93 of Maynardville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was a lifelong member and former pastor of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Luther was retired from Dempster Brothers and was a United States Army Veteran serving in World II.
