Curtis Glen Ridenour, Sr.

Curtis Glen “Rowdy” Ridenour, Sr.-age 65 of Maynardville passed away Saturday morning, July 4, 2020 at his home after a long hard battle with cancer. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by parents, William and Adna Welch Ridenour, sisters, Shelby Stiner, Diane and Cynthia Ridenour.

urvivors: wife of 36 years, Cathy Lawson Ridenour; daughters, Hope and Jessica; sons, Curtis Jr. and Kendall. He will be forever in our hearts and sadly missed by family and friends.

Dola Jeanette Hoskins

Dola Jeanette Hoskins - age 78 of Hiram, GA, formerly of Knoxville passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Tranquility Hospice Facility in Austell, GA. She was born on December 15, 1941 in Middlesboro, KY. Her parents were the late Elijah Martin and Rossie Catherine Barnett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Elder Phillip Hoskins; 4 brothers - Estil Barnett, Leon Barnett, Bobbie Barnett, and Delano Barnett; and 3 sisters - Bernell Sorrell, Ola Mae Campbell, and Elvina Kelly.

Dovie C. Smith

Dovie C. Smith-age 74 of Maynardville passed away Sunday morning, June 28, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a member of Pennington Chapel Baptist Church. She was a retired manager of IHOP Restaurant with 27 years of service. Preceded in death by husband, Sam Smith; mother, Roberta Bailey Cox; father, Porter Cox; infant son, James Jessie Smith; son-in-law, Ralph Grissom; brothers, Charlie Cox, Joe Cox.

Edward H. "Strawberry" Archer

Edward H. “Strawberry” Archer, age 91, life-long resident of Union County. He passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 (born May 24,1929). He was a member of Milan Baptist Church. He retired from Sanford Day Iron Works/Marmon Transportive and spent his retired years farming and serving the community as a dedicated Union county resident. He was the Union and Campbell counties Republican Party Chairman and, along with his wife Barbara (Bobbie) Archer, managed the Paulette community building for many years. He also served as a member of various Union County boards.

Rev. Dr. William Richard Vick

Rev. Dr. Richard Vick-age 86 of Ruskin, Florida, formerly of Maynardville passed away 4:15 P.M. Monday, June 22, 2020 at Life Path Hospice in Florida. He was born February 13, 1934 the son of the late Homer and Lena (Hall) Vick. Preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Dr. Joyce Gaye (Pickens) Vick; grandchildren, Amy, Kathryn and Levi. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War serving October, 1951-January, 1955.

Jennifer A. Jones

Jennifer A. Jones, age 44, of South Knoxville, passed away suddenly June 23, 2020 at UT Medical Center. She loved to camp, read, and all types of music. Jennifer was preceded in death by father, Michael Harmon, and sister, Melissa Harmon. Survivors include husband, David Jones, daughters, Caitlyn Summers and Kristen Watson, mother, Rebecca Harmon, and sister, Angie Lampkin. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Friday, July 3, 2020 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Mike Segars officiating.

Karen L. Wyrick

Karen Louise (Jerome) Wyrick-age 63 of Andersonville left this life peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, June 23, 2020 at home and in the presence of her family. Born to Elizabeth “Betty” (White) Jerome on October 19, 1956, Karen grew up in many places, but made her final home in East Tennessee. Shortly after moving here at the age of 16, she found the love of her life, marrying the luckiest man in the world, Steven John Wyrick on February 24, 1979.

Deanna C. Farley

Deanna C. Farley age 44 of Maynardville passed away on June 17, 2020.

She was preceded in death by spouse Randy Sparks and her grandparents.

She is survived by parents Elmer and Tina Shoemaker, and Jerry Downey; children Dylan (Ammie) Sparks, Eddie (Chasity) Burton, Tina Humphrey and Brandon Sparks; grandchildren Abel, Cora and Jace; brother Timmy (Cecilia) Shoemaker; sister Sherry (Brian) Potter.

David N. Nicholson

David N. Nicholson, age 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at his home the morning of June 21, 2020. He was a member of New Beverly Baptist Church. He was a very loving husband to his wife of 31 years, and survived by his wife, Barbara Nicholson. Other survivors include: brothers John Nicholson, Bob Nicholson, and stepson Timothy Harr. Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with service to follow, Rev. Eddie Sawyer and Rev. Mike Vincent officiating.

Curtis "Curley" Bates

Curtis Lloyd Bates “Curley & Pop” – age 87 of Corryton, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2020 in his sleep and stepped into the arms of Jesus. He was a member of Cedar Ford Baptist Church. Curley was the former owner of Bates Auto Parts in Maynardville and a U S Army Veteran serving as a SSgt. in the Korean War.

Arlene Washam Rose

Arlene Rose-age 82 of Maynardville passed away Saturday morning, June 20, 2020 at Beverly Park Place. She was a member of Lighthouse Church in Luttrell. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jack Rose; daughter, Tesha Rose; parents, Harvey Logan and Ina Ester Washam; brothers, Rev. Stanley Washam, William Washam and Rev. Troy Washam.

Teresa E. Atkins

Teresa E. Atkins-age 65 of Knoxville passed away suddenly Thursday, June 18, 2020 at her home. She was a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church, Corryton; retired employee of Levi Strauss, Powell and was a former employee of K-Mart. Teresa was an avid lover of horses. Preceded in death by parents, Jasper and Ileen Atkins; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Jim Phipps.

Janice Wilkerson

Janice Sue Wilkerson – age 51 of Andersonville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 18, 2020.

She is preceded in death by her father, Hobart Bailey. Janice is survived by her mother, Susie Bailey; children, Amy Benford, Bradley Wilkerson and Leslie Wilkerson; many grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Karen Bailey; and boyfriend of 16 years, Robert Phillips.

Robin Moore Lett

Robin Moore Lett, age 58, passed away peacefully June 14, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was a member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, Nana, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and sister-in-law. She bravely battled cancer for 16 ½ years and throughout her final months of treatment Robin remained caring, strong, and iron-willed in her choices. She always had her family & friends in her thoughts as she made her peace with the ending of her life.

Ahjeuya Alaska Hansard (Ted), age 99 of Halls Crossroards, passed away peacefully Monday June 15, 2020. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Samuel Carl Hansard, parents, PL and Ninabell Hall, two sisters and two brothers. Survived by her son, Jack C. Hansard, grandchildren, Robert Hansard, Sandy Hansard Spangler, James Hansard, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Family will receive friends Wednesday 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with a service to follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Jack Walker officiating.

Ronald F. Harbin

Ronald F. Harbin, age 84 of Powell, passed away Sunday June 14, 2020. He spent his life working as a ditch digger and was the owner of F.H. Harbin Co., Inc. He was a 60 year Freemason and served as Past Master of Powell Lodge #582 F&AM in 1965 and of Bright Hope Lodge #557 F&AM in 2005. Preceded in death by parents Frederick “Hack” and Della Mae Harbin, siblings Bill, Elizabeth, and Kenneth, first wife Sibyl Ann Bayne, second wife Lola Mae Jones, and Tammy the mule.
