Mary Stout

Mary Leona Stout, age 90, Mascot, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Willow Ridge Center, Maynardville. She was born March 27, 1930. Member of Green Acres Baptist Church, retired from Phillips/Magnavox in Strawberry Plains. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Celia Elizabeth Stout; brothers, Bud, Sedrick (Roudy), and Charles, Jr; sisters, Lucy Spickard, Polly Griffin, Dessie Acuff, and Bobbie Kuykendall; closest and dearest friend whom she thought of as sister Frances Hayes.

Michael Monroe Needham

Michael Monroe Needham – 71 of Maynardville, entered the Heavenly Gates on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center following a short battle with Covid-19. He was very patriotic and a proud Vietnam War Veteran serving in the U S Army achieving the rank of Specialist 5th Class. Michael was a very loving and kind man and never met a stranger. Everyone who knew him loved him and he had a very contagious smile and personality. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

Ray S. Sultzbaugh

Ray Sultzbaugh was born in Los Angeles, CA to Lisle William Sultzbaugh and Olive Amelia Boren on May 30th 1943.
His interests and talents were many. While attending Whittier High School he was the wrestling champ all 4 years. He was of small stature but that never stopped him from flipping and pinning down a 250lb giant. A testimony to his character of strength.

LouElla Loy Evans

LouElla Loy Evans-age 84 of Maynardville went to be with Lord Friday, December 11, 2020 with a smile on her face and surrounded by her family. LouElla faithfully attended Alder Springs Baptist Church for over 50 years, there she served as bereavement team coordinator. She retired from Levi Strauss and Company in 1994 after 30 years of service. LouElla loved volunteering for the Paulette Volunteer Fire Department. She was a caregiver to many family members, friends and animals over the years.

Carolyn F. Wallace

Wallace, Carolyn Faye (Grubb)-age 71 of Luttrell, passed away at St. Sanders Hospital on Friday December 11, 2020, surrounded by her family. Carolyn was born in Knox County on May 25, 1949. She retired in 2012 from Pinky’s Auto Sales & Mufflers where she enjoyed working with her son and husband. Carolyn also served two terms as the Mayor of Luttrell, being the first female ever elected to that office.

Ronald L. "Tom" Cooke

Ronald L. “Tom” Cooke-age 78 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Friday, December 11, 2020 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was saved by the grace of God on November 14, 1980. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by wife, Berdie Cooke; parents, Lee Roy and Francis Cooke; sister, Mona Cooke.

Jason Lynn Buckner

Jason Lynn Buckner-age 41 of Sweetwater, formerly of Maynardville passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Preceded in death by grandparents, Verlin and Ruby (Buckner) Munsey; father, Kenneth Paul Buckner; brother, Kenny Ray Buckner. He was a member of Sonrise Church.

Johnny Ray Mustard

Johnny Ray Mustard-age 59 of Harrogate passed away Wednesday morning, December 9, 2020 at his home. He was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church, Harrogate. Preceded in death by parents, James Cecil and Dewie (Smallwood) Mustard; sister, Flora Elizabeth Mustard.

Survivors: three sisters, Pauline Tate of New Tazewell; Patricia McIntosh of Harrogate; Della Shoffner of Sharps Chapel; brother, Terry Glenn Mustard of Harrogate. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Beverly Marie Wolfenbarger

Beverly “Marie” (Hopper) Wolfenbarger-age 75 of Powder Springs passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 10. 2020 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Powder Springs Baptist Church. Marie was a retired employee of the Halls Wal-Mart with 24 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, John and Nora (Meltabarger) Hooper; husbands, Donald Wolfenbarger and Robert Bear; brothers, Bill Hopper, Wallace Hopper, Ralph Hopper; sisters, Frances Bates, Ola Cole and Melba Seivers.; twin-granddaughters, Britney and Whitney Acuff.

Ronald H. Norris

Ronald Hugh Norris-age 67 of Maynardville passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was preceded in death by parents, Roy H. and Maudie (Smith) Norris; twin-brother, Donnie Norris; brother, David Norris.

Survivors: brother, James Norris of Maynardville; Ronnie’s girlfriend, Melissa Brooks.

Cremation is planned and due to Covid-19, there will be no services. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.

Dakota D. Runyon

Dakota Dwain Runyon-age 24 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home. Preceded in death by grandmother, Virginia Sweet; aunt, Linda Carroll.

Survivors: wife, Tiffany Eastwood; mother, Patricia Fisher; sisters, Carina Turner and Betty Runyon; nephews, Ricky Wayne Turner, III and Jesiah Turner. Cousins, Dustin Carroll and Doug Carroll. Several other family members and a host of friends.

Theo Harrell Coppock, Sr.

Theo Harrell Coppock, Sr. – 78 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully Monday, December 7, 2020. He was a deacon and trustee of Alder Springs Baptist Church and a member of J. C. Baker Lodge.

He is preceded in death by parents, John L. and Alice Coppock; twin brother, Leo; and several sisters. Theo is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda (Warwick) Coppock; son, Harrell (Tracey) Coppock; daughter, Teresa (Mark) Turner; sisters, Martha Suffridge and Lois Perry; brother, Darrell Pendergrass; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael W. Bailey

Michael W. Bailey-age 53 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 5, 2020 at his home. He was a lifelong member of Mountain View Church of God of the Union Assembly in Luttrell. Michael loved his church and was a true servant of the Lord. He had a special passion for singing and helped organize many benefit singings for special events. Michael was a well-known figure around Maynardville and was lovingly referred to as “The Mayor” and spent a lot of his time visiting the Union County Courthouse and the Food City in Maynardville.

Lisa Ann Moyers

Lisa Ann Moyers-age 55 of Sharps Chapel, born June 24, 1965 passed away suddenly Saturday, December 5, 2020 at her home. She was saved at Rush Strong Schoolhouse at an early age and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Wylie Carpenter; brothers, Jerry and Mark Carpenter; grandparents, Clarence and Tennie Mabe.

Survivors: parents, Kay and Bobby Shoffner; daughter, Heather (Michael) Jones; grandchildren, Charity Daniels, Lily Daniels, Paisley Jones, Luke Jones, Micah Jones; brothers, Joe Shoffner and Josh Shoffner.

Betty Grayson

Betty Grayson-age 91 of New Tazewell, born July 24, 1929 in Miami, Florida passed away Friday, December 4 2020 at her home after a struggle with cancer. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and encouraged everyone to read God’s word.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Powell; children, Dorothy (Jerry) Love; Jim (Terry) Grayson; Cathy (Scott) Smolinsky; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many special friends that were brothers and sisters to her. Several nieces and nephews.

Tommy S. Chaffin

Tommy Stuart Chaffin-age 44 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Tommy was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many. He was a Captain with the City of Knoxville Fire Department with 21 years of service. Member and evangelist of Temple Baptist Church, Fountain City who always looked for an opportunity to spread the gospel. Preceded in death by parents, Tommy and Betty Chaffin; grandparents, Bill and Helen Creech.

Jack A. Atkins, Jr.

Jack A. Atkins, Jr.-age 61 of Luttrell, born July 4, 1959 passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at U. T. Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid carpenter and loved fishing and camping. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Arthur and Bessie Atkins, Wren and Adele Collins; father, Jack A. Atkins, Sr.; step-father, J. W. Hickle.

Rose Cadle

Hettie Rose Cadle-age 93 of Bradley, Illinois graduated to her eternal home Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Bradley, Illinois. Rose was born January 27, 1927 in Harlan County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Martha J. Branam Rutherford. Rose married Elvin L. Cadle on September 28, 1946 in Robbins, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2003. Also preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and four sons; Edwin Cadle, Tom Cadle, Tony Cadle and Ray Cadle. She attended Peoples Church in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
