Roy Ivon White – age 91 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully January 11, 2024 at Norris Health and Rehab. He was a Marine Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, a charter member of Community Baptist Church, a Mason with J. C. Baker Lodge for over 50 years and member of American Legion Post 212.

Beth Ann Collins-age 54 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Sharps Chapel. She was a caregiver and loved her job at Visiting Angels, Knoxville Office. Beth was an active home schooler. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. Preceded in death by father, Teddy Collins; brother, Robbie Collins; grandparents, Edward and Georgette Collins; Mattie and Glen Woods.

Rita Mae Middleton

Rita Mae Middleton-age 70 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 10, 2024. She was of the Baptist faith. Rita loved to sit outside and enjoy nature and her humming birds and also sit on the porch and talk to her dog, Harry. Preceded in death by parents, Aulden and Willa Mae Middleton; sisters, Brenda, Linda, Glenna McCrary and husband James, Althea Middleton; brothers, Teddy, Burl and Terry Middleton.

Joan Marcelle (Cooke) Holloway

Joan Marcelle (Cooke) Holloway – age 82 of Corryton passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was a member of Union Baptist Church on Washington Pike. She lived a life of service as an USO ambassador, Family Services representative on military installations, Special Olympics volunteer, and The American Red Cross Military and Disaster Service worker. In addition, she briefly worked for the FBI as a fingerprint examiner.

Claudette Coffman

“The sun’s coming up in the morning, Every tear will be gone from mine eye. This ol’ house is gonna give way to glory, And like an eagle, I’ll take to the sky.” On January 6th, 2024, Claudette Coffman, of Corryton, TN, made that long awaited journey - passing away from the effects of Lewy Body Dementia.

Allen, Patricia

Patricia Ann Allen – age 73 of Maynardville, was called home January 1, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Ms. Pat, as she was known to her school “kid”, was a retired paraprofessional and school bus driver in Union County for many years.

She is preceded in death by parents, Adrian and Vondell Campbell; brothers, Charles, James and Steve Campbell; sisters, Kathy, Charolet, Karen and Lisa. Patricia leaves behind daughter, Amanda (John) Hall; son, Jonathan (Jamie) Allen; grandchildren, Victoria Rutherford and Lincoln Allen; and sister, Jan Campbell.

Carolyn Sue Brantley

Carolyn Sue Brantley – age 73 of Sharps Chapel, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Claiborne Medical Center. She was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church having been saved at an early age. She owned and operated Brantley Grocery in Sharps Chapel for many years and although she was a mother to 3 children, she mothered many other children at the “White House”. If you knew her, you knew what it was like to be loved.

Donald Mathew Bradley

Donald “Dee” Bradley – age 53 of Maynardville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 24, 2023. Dee loved to fish and loved to drive fast cars. He was a hard worker and detailed cars.
Preceded in death by his mother, Martha “Tess” Bradley; sisters, Martha Stephens, Lynda Collins, Cynthia Bradley; brother, Thomas Steward. Survived by sister, Phyllis “P.K.” Grimes and husband David; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Tabbatha Byrum – age 39 of Maynardville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 4th, 2024 at Willow Ridge Center. Tabbatha loved and praised the Lord every single day.

Joseph E. Roberts

Joseph E. Roberts – passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on January 4, 2024 at his home in Corryton. He was born, married and raised his children in New Jersey, then moved to Corryton in 1987. He proudly served as a Marine in the Pacific arena during World War II. Prior to Covid he was a member of Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church. For many years he took daily walks up and down Jim Wolfe Road enjoying his time waving to all who passed by and making friends with those who stopped to talk or just wave back.

Joey (Roscoe) Johnson

Joey (Roscoe) Johnson-age 57 of Sharps Chapel passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 at his home. Preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ruby Johnson.

He is survived by his children, Trevor Johnson, Tiffany Johnson; brother, Tim Johnson; sister, Debbie Dyke; nephews, Tobby Johnson, Cory Dyke; niece, Cindy Dyke Nicley; great nephews, Devin Johnson, Ethan McKnight, Cole Nicley, Austin Nicley; great-great nephews, Ryland and Dallas McKnight.

Joyce Ann Hopkins

Joyce Ann Hopkins – age 80 of Sharps Chapel, went home to be with Jesus Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was saved at the age of 12 and attended Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church and Irwin’s Chapel Methodist Church in Sharps Chapel. She was born March 20, 1943 in Ocala, Florida. She retired as a cake decorator and artist. She loved birds, Elvis and her Lord Jesus.
Preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wayne Hopkins Sr.; father, Tom Cotton; step-mother, Leona Cotton; mother, Sarah Cotton; brother, Tommy Cotton; several aunts and uncles.

David Burkhart

David Burkhart – age 66 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord with a smile on his face Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. He was an employee of Service Master for over 20 years. He recently retired and was looking forward to Old Man Fishing and spending time with his new grandbaby, Dallas.

Tammie Ray "TT" Lynch

Tammie Ray Lynch-age 55 of Washburn, formerly of Luttrell passed away Monday, January 1, 2023 at Fort Sander’s Regional Medical Center. Preceded in death by her loving son, William Cody Lynch; father and mother, William Randy and Diane Lynch; sister, Nina Bell; brother, William Darrell Lynch; father of her children, Johnny “Buck” Wood.

Roy Roger Howe, Sr.

Roy Roger Howe, Sr.-age 80 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 31, 2023. He was a member of Byrams Fork Baptist Church. Roy was an Army veteran and loved to whittle. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marcella Howe; sister, Anita Costa.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Paulette Howe; children, Tabatha Shope, Roy Howe, Jr., Janice Oliver, Joseph Howe; a slew of grandchildren and great children along with many nieces and nephews.

Harold Mashburn

Mashburn, Harold (Junior), age 77 of Maynardville TN, departed peacefully from his earthly realm to the eternal embrace of our heavenly father surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville Tn. Harold was born on November 10, 1946, in Oneka N.C. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by his parents, Lawerence Mashburn of Tazewell TN and Siretta B. Nelson of Loudon TN and a grandson Anthony C. Meyers.

Michael Taylor

Michael Charles Taylor, age 38, of Maynardville, TN went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2023, surrounded by his family at Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center following a long battle with liver disease. Michael was born on June 10th, 1985, in Knoxville, TN and graduated from Anderson County High School in 2003. He achieved a Certificate as a Nursing Assistant but worked as a service technician most of his career. Michael loved to bowl, play golf, watch UT Football, and forge knives.

Lowell Herbert Thomas

Lowell H. Thomas-age 79 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at his home after illness with diabetes and dementia. He was a member and former Master of J.C. Baker Lodge #720 F.&A.M. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Preceded in death by wife, Linda F. Thomas; infant daughter, Connie Thomas; his parents, Rev. Charles and Marion Thomas; brother, Charles V. Thomas, Jr.
