Verlin "Buck" Hall

Verlin “Buck” Hall-age 72 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Thursday morning, June 7, 2018 at his home. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Buck was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Kitts Hall; parents, Ed and Geneva Hall; sister, Judy Dean.

Survivors: sisters, Shirley Young and husband, Linville; Mary Seals; Betty Smith; Peggy Parker and husband, Eddie; Patsy Brooks and husband, Richard; Kay Cox; Barb Johnson and husband, Steve; brothers, J. C. Hall and wife, Betty Jo; Roger Hall. Several special nieces and nephews.

Mary Catherine Little

Mary Catherine Deaver Mayton Little, age 85, of Knoxville, departed this life on Monday, June 4, 2018. She was a member of City View Baptist Church. About her time with us, mom said “I have had a wonderful life, with the blessings of Christian parents, was a faithful wife of two fine men, and had the great pleasure of being three times a mother. I have kept absolute faith in my Lord, Jesus Christ”. Along with her love of family and her Saviour, our mom always found great joy in being at the beach, walking in the surf and hunting sea shells.

Berniece Rowena Atkins

Berniece R. (Settle) Atkins, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. She was a member of Copper Ridge Baptist Church but attended New Beverly Baptist Church. She retired from Standard Knitting Mills after 43 years of service. Preceded in death by parents Evelyn and Dewey Settle; husband Joe Atkins; siblings Arvel, Roberta, Verlin, Bobby, Betty, Denver and Elwood Settle.

(Alice) Marie Hickman

(Alice) Marie Hickman, age 80, of Knoxville passed away on June 4, 2018. She loved to garden and take care of her yard. She loved her family, they were everything to her. She retired from Alpha Industries after many years of service. She was preceded in death by mother and father, Herbert and Ester Jessee; husband, Carroll (Buddy) Hickman. She is survived by sons, Gary L. (Aida) Hickman and Scott R.

Clifford "Cliff" Wayne Howard, Jr.

Clifford "Cliff" Wayne Howard, Jr., age 69, of Knoxville was welcomed home by His Savior on June 3, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Cliff was born on March 24, 1949, to Clifford and Wilma Jean Howard. He entered the US Army in 1967 where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He received many commendations for his dedication and bravery including a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. The discipline and patriotism he gained in the US Army never left him, as family and friends will attest.

Wanda Sue Moore Wright

Wanda Sue Wright-age 78 of New Tazewell passed away peacefully Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Willow Ridge Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Wright is preceded in death by husband Larry (L.A.) Wright, parents Will and Gay Harmon Moore, five brothers and two sisters. Survivors are sisters Linda Moore Irick and husband Ronnie, Nancy Moore Freeberg and husband Roger, brothers Gene Moore and wife Dinah, Tim Moore. She also is survived by many special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Amy Michelle McCarter-age 41 of Knoxville passed away suddenly Sunday, May 27, 2018. She was a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly, Knoxville. Preceded in death by parents, Clifford and Barbara Snyder; sister, Kathy Boggs.

Tip Ingle-age 84 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 27, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Gilbert Bobby Profitt

Gilbert “Bob” Profitt, age 81 of Ridgeview Terrace, Rutledge went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2018 after passing of an illness at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City. Bob was born in Gillmore, Kentucky on March 21, 1937 to Edna Campbell Profitt and Mort Profitt. He served in the Navy before spending the bulk of his career as a member and employee of the Teamsters Union. He was a long-time resident of Knoxville, Tennessee and lived in the Halls Crossroads Community for over 20 years.

Alvilva (Ousley) Carr

Alvilva (Ousley) Carr – age 100, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2018 at 8:30 p.m. at Holston Health and Rehab Center in Knoxville. She was born on January 25, 1918 in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee and lived to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 25, 2018. She was somewhat secretive about her age, but grew quite excited as she neared her 100th birthday and wanted everyone to come to her party. She looked forward to seeing her wonderful extended family, her fellow members of First Baptist Church of Maynardville, and other Union County friends.

Willard Harvey (Bo) Ferrell

Willard Harvey (Bo) Ferrell, age 71 of Powell, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2018. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Linda Gail Cole Ferrell. He worked all his life in the fire sprinkler industry. He enjoyed camping, fishing, skating, auto racing, trips to the beach, and family events.

Cuba (Cox) Wilson

Cuba Pauline (Cox) Wilson, age 101 of Maynardville, went home to be with her Heavenly Father at 2:45 a.m. on May 29, 2018 at her caregiver’s home. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Cuba was Union County’s Register of Deeds for 40 years. She was Farmer’s Mutual Fire Insurance Company’s Secretary/Treasurer for approximately 30 years. Cuba served the public in various other positions fulfilling her desire to serve and help others.

Ruth Ann Walker, age 71 of Halls, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 27th 2018 at UT Medical Center. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by husband, Kyle (Pete) Walker. Diana Lee Richard, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, May 22nd after a courageous battle with cancer. Diana was born in Chicago on July 9, 1943 to Grace and Clarence Willert who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by son, Reed Hornung and daughter, Beth Richard.
