T. G. Brantley

Theodore Godrey “T. G.” Brantley II of Corryton passed away one day short of his 78th birthday on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. T. G. was born April 26, 1948 in Knoxville, the son of Reverend Theodore “T. G.” and Virgie Gilbert Brantley. T. G. was a member of Warwick’s Chapel Baptist Church. He graduated from Horace Maynard High School in 1966. He worked at Robertshaw Controls for 30 years and was a past Master and member of Corryton Masonic Lodge 321. T. G. was a 26-year survivor of a heart transplant and was deeply grateful to have been granted a second chance, seizing every moment to make a difference in some way. The transplant not only gave our father more life, but it gave our entire family a whole new life. He shared his faith, how he was blessed, a positive attitude and love with anyone he encountered. His life was a testament to the success of organ donation. His final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through tissue donation. Thankful for having our father for so many years, we credit his medical team at Vanderbilt Medical Center (Dr. Mark Wigger and Dr. Anna Marie Burgner) who worked diligently to keep him healthy.

He is preceded in death by parents, Reverend Theodore (T. G.) and Virgie Gilbert Brantley. T. G. is survived by his devoted daughters, Holly (Gordon) Smith and Jana (Tim) Johnson; grandchildren, Taylor Hope, Laura Beth (Buck), Tucker Garrett and Allison Brantley Smith; great grandchildren, Lainey and Levi Smith; the mother of his children, Judy Capps Brantley; sister, Mary Ruth Atchley; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2026 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The service to follow with Reverend Ray Headrick and Reverend Kyle Shell officiating. Family and friends will meet 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Trinity to proceed to Elbert Wyrick Cemetery, located next to Clear Branch Baptist Church for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
