Rita J. Poteet – age 91 of Maynardville, went to her Heavenly Home on September 9, 2026. She was a member of St. Teresa’s of Kolkata Church. Rita retired from a career in Civilian Personnel at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan. Rita enjoyed hobbies of quilting, stain glass, crafting and an occasional casino visit.

She is preceded in death by parents, Dewey Noe and Marie Noe Brisky; and her beloved husband, Clarence M. Poteet. Rita is survived by daughters, Debbie (Dave) Schmalz of Michigan and Donna Poteet of Maynardville; sisters, Patricia Perfetto and Marlene (Roger) Schupp; grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Schmalz and Amanda (Nick) Hanson; great grandsons, Charles Schmalz and Ethan Reynolds; several beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2026 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The service to follow with Deacon Larry Rossini officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 12:15 p.m. at East TN Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for a 12:30 p.m. graveside service.
