Rev. Robert Stephen Monroe, Sr.-age 79 of Maynardville passed away Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, at his home. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a Past Master of J.C. Baker Lodge #720 F.&A.M. His kindness to everyone will be fondly remembered. He loved gardening and fishing, along with his cats. He also loved playing guitar and singing in church. Preceded in death by his parents, William Vaughn Monroe and Catherine Irene (Bowling) Monroe; brothers, Jack Monroe, Vaughn Monroe; stepson, Mitchell Buck; son-in-law, Raymond Atkins.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Laura Catherine Monroe; daughter, Teresa Lutner and husband, Michael of Oak Ridge; son, Robert Stephen Monroe, Jr. and wife, Kelly of Maynardville; grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Emily Lutner, Arielle Monroe, Madison Barnes; step sons, Tommy Buck and wife, Elizabeth, Terry Buck and wife, Cathy; step daughter, Becky Atkins; half-brother, Alan Monroe and several other grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary with masonic service at 7:00 PM and funeral service to follow, Rev. Robin Ryder officiating. Interment 10 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Skaggs Cemetery, Maynardville. Pallbearers: Alan Monroe, Tommy Buck, Robert Stephen Monroe, Jr., Michael Lutner, Gene Buck, Jason Buck. Family and friends will meet 9:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home to go with the funeral procession. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
