Mary Sue (Wolfenbarger) Winters

Mary Sue (Wolfenbarger) Winters, age 85 of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023. She was a founding member of New Testament Baptist Church and was a pastor’s wife for over 50 years and a Christian school kindergarten teacher for over 10 years.
Preceded in death by her spouse, Rev. George B. Winters; parents, two sisters, grandson, George Winters III, and three great-grandchildren.
Survived by children, Susie and Gary Napier, Debbie and David Wood, Peggy and Jerry Cardwell, George II and Susan Winters, Linda and Scott Brown; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, sister, Julia Elaine Wolfenbarger Browning; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at New Testament Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm, officiated by Rev. David H. Wood and Rev. Bill Boggs. Interment will immediately follow funeral service at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Wood, Daniel Adams, George Winters II, Scott Brown II, Todd Brown and Hunter Boggs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Napier Jr., John Napier, Eli Boggs, Joseph Wood, Mack Wood, Clay Wood, Turner Shultz, Mason Adams, Logan Adams, Parker Riehl, Charles Jacob Winters and Gabriel Cassidy. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to New Testament Baptist Church Building Fund in Mary’s honor. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville, Tennessee.
