Kay Frances Taylor Howard Welch Whetsell – age 88 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in Knoxville. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Kay was born on February 15, 1935 in Knoxville to Arlee Taylor and Hazel (Cook) Taylor. She enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing and playing Bingo. Kay was employed by Standard Knitting Mill for 20 years. She was a member or Texas Valley Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Whetsell; parents, Arlee Taylor and Hazel (Cook) Taylor; and brother A. C. Taylor. Kay is survived by her sons, Eddie Howard and Doyle (Christina) Welch; grandchildren, Ashlea, Stefanie and Paige; great grandchildren, Vincent, Jace and Violet; and sisters, Wanda Dragon and Joyace Davis. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Beverly Park Place for the care of their mother.

The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2024 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The service to follow with Reverend Bryan Cooke officiating. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery on Tazewell Pike 12:45 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024 for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service. Serving as pallbearers, David Sharp, Bobby Lord, Greene Bruner, Spencer Johnson, Joey Woods and Marty Smith.
