Geneva Ruth Wood Walker
Geneva Ruth (Wood) Walker, age 74, of Luttrell, Tennessee passed away in the early morning
hours of March 9, 2026. Geneva was born on September 23, 1951 in Knoxville, Tennessee to
the late Rev. JB and Jessie Ruth Wood.
She spent her childhood on the family farm with her 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Geneva met the
love of her life at Bruins Cabinet Shop. After joining the Air Force in 1970, they were married
on August 5, 1971 and moved to California where they were stationed to-start their future.
Geneva was a stay-at-home mom for the most part of her life. She worked for the phone
company, later the postmaster relief at the Luttrell Post Office, and was the Logistics Manager
at Office Max where she worked until she retired. She will be remembered for caring nature,
her wonderful sense of humor as well as her kindness and love she gave to friends, family,
and co-workers just like a Mom.
Geneva is survived by her husband, Jess (Speedy) Walker, son, Leslie Walker (Annie),
daughter, Rachel Walker; granddaughter, Hannah Walker (Nolan); siblings, Donna Dukes,
Debbie Campbell, Jeff Wood, Roger Wood, Earl (Shorty) Wood (Charlene), and Betsy Thomas (Sam).
Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
The family would like to express how wonderful her care team was. Dr. Kilgore at UT
Oncology who never gave up and kept pushing for her to continue treatments for 12 beautiful
years. Amanda Berry, Nurse Practitioner who loved her from the beginning and seemed to
always work miracles to get her what she needed. UT Hospice who came in when we were
least expecting it and took the most wonderful care of her right till the end. Victoria was our
Angel sent to make sure we were able to care for Mom at home the entire time she was on
hospice.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at
Cooke-Campbell Mortuary with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm, Rev. Clinton Hatfield
and Jess L. Walker officiating. Interment service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday,
March 18, 2026, at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, Rev. Jerry Tharp
officiating. Pallbearers will be, Doyle Dukes, Dale Anderson, Jeremy Thomas, Sam Thomas,
Adam Brantley, Bryce Williams. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery on Wednesday
at 12:15 pm. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville.
