On the Loose

The oddest things happen on Papaw’s farm.

It was the late eighties. I pulled in from work one day to see Mamaw standing on the far side of my house. I saw her angry facial expression and thought, “This can’t be good. Maybe I should put my car in reverse and just go back to work.”

After a quick prayer, I parked and walked toward Mamaw. She didn’t give me the chance to ask her what was going on. “We managed to get your dogs in the basement. Since it’s E.O.’s fault, we’ll pay to have it fixed.”

A Cosmic Perspective

I was mowing the grass the other day and, not particularly enjoying it, mused over what a dull thing to be doing. I was not taking things into perspective.

While I thought I was puttering along on my mower at a blazing two or three miles per hour, I was in fact mowing grass on a surface of the Earth that was spinning at a rotation speed of 1037 miles per hour. While spinning at this breakneck speed, the Earth and I were whizzing around the sun at a speed of 1110 miles per hour. That’s like driving to Myrtle Beach in 23 minutes.

Chiropractic Management of Migraine

There aren’t many large studies on the value of chiropractic treatment in managing migraines. One study examined chiropractic treatment for different types of headaches, including migraines. The study combined the results of 22 previous studies, which had more than 2,600 patients total. The studies show that chiropractic treatment may serve as a good preventive treatment for migraines.

Angel Biscuits

Frozen biscuits are now available at most grocery stores. They are good, but I can make better. Freezing regular biscuit dough has never worked for me, but Angel Biscuits are another matter. My recipe makes a big batch, more than enough for breakfast. I like to freeze some of them for another day. We all know that hot biscuits often make the meal.
