Fresh Wagon celebrates 5 years of serving UC

The Fresh Wagon food distribution program is celebrating five years of serving Union County and surrounding areas. Since its beginning, Fresh Wagon has worked to increase access to fresh and nutritious food while bringing the community together through service and support.

The next Fresh Wagon distribution will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 1 p.m. at FirstBank, at 2905 Maynardville Hwy, Maynardville, TN 37807. Food will be distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.

FCE celebrates Spring Luncheon with patriotic theme

The Union County Family and Community Education (FCE) Clubs recently gathered for their annual Spring Luncheon at the Union County Extension Office, celebrating fellowship, creativity and community spirit with a festive red, white and blue patriotic theme in honor of our country's 250th anniversary celebration.

Summer Fest set for May 8

Union County residents are invited to make plans now to attend the upcoming Party in the Park: Summer Fest, happening next week at Wilson Park. Hosted by the Union County Community Advisory Board (CAB), this free, family-friendly event will take place on Friday, May 8, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The event is designed to bring the community together for an evening of fun, connection, and access to valuable local resources. A variety of community organizations will be on site sharing information about programs and services available to Union County families.

Living Well with Chronic Conditions Program Coming to Union County

Living Well with Chronic Conditions is a 6-week workshop series designed to help community members manage their long-term health issues effectively. Chronic conditions of those attending may include asthma, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, chronic pain, sleep apnea, or fibromyalgia, among others.

CAB to host Summer Fest May 8

Union County families are invited to kick off the summer season with an evening of fun, resources and community connection at the upcoming Party in the Park: Summer Fest, hosted by the UC Community Advisory Board (CAB).

The event will take place on Friday, May 8, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Wilson Park, and is free and open to the public.

Union County FCE Invites Community to February Heart Health Program

The Union County Family and Community Education (FCE) Club invites community members to attend its February meeting on Thursday, February 19, at 10:00 a.m. at the Union County Extension Office.

This month’s program will focus on heart health and healthy cooking choices. Special guest Anna Marie from the Union County Health Department will share practical tips for protecting your heart, improving everyday eating habits, and making small lifestyle changes that can lead to better overall health.

Last Call to Register for “Take Charge of Your Diabetes” Class in Union County

Union County residents are reminded that registration is closing soon for the upcoming Take Charge of Your Diabetes education program offered by the University of Tennessee Extension. This free, evidence-based workshop is designed to help individuals with diabetes gain confidence and practical skills to better manage their health.

FCE invites community to January meeting

The Union County Family and Community Education (FCE) Club invites the public to attend its January meeting on Thursday, January 15, at 10 a.m. at the Union County Extension Office.

During the meeting, participants will learn how to make Simmer Pot Kits, a simple and natural way to add seasonal fragrance to the home, as well as how to safely dehydrate oranges, which can be used for décor, gifts, or cooking. A covered dish lunch will follow the program, providing time for fellowship and conversation.

FCE celebrates Christmas

The Union County Family and Community Education (FCE) Club held its December meeting at the Union County Extension Office, celebrating the Christmas season with food, games and fellowship.

Members enjoyed a variety of finger foods while participating in a fun Left-Right Dirty Santa combination game, followed by a festive round of Christmas Bingo. Laughter and conversation filled the room as members gathered to enjoy time together and reflect on the season of giving.
