Von C Merritt went to be with his Savior April 12, 2019. He was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by parents George and Hazel Merritt, and Brother Ron Merritt. Survived by wife Mary Ann Merritt, brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and Delsie Merritt, Al and June Merritt, sisters and brothers-in-law Marie and Jack Rhyne, Janice and Bob Pendergrass, Almeda and Steve Lewis, and sister-in-law Maudella Merritt. The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:30 pm on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.

Pauline “Polly” Lucille Hodson Smith age 68 of Knoxville passed away on Friday April 12, 2019, surrounded by her family. Polly retired from First Tennessee Bank after 30 years of service. She spent her retirement years serving as a teacher for the Parents Day Out program at Union Baptist Church and also enjoyed working for Purple Plum Estate Sales, when not at work she loved spending time with her Terry Point Campground family. Preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen Hodson; brother Dennis Hodson.

Velva C. Warwick, age 101, passed away April 12, 2019. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed. Her favorite hobby was gardening.

Verleen Miller, born November 17, 1946, went to be with the Lord April 11, 2019. She was a member of Powell United Methodist Church. Verleen was the owner of Crossroads Insurance for over 30 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Marion Glenn Lee (Rusty) Carpenter, age 90 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at home surrounded by his wife of 68 years, Marie, and his eldest son, Rick Carpenter. Rusty was born on September 6, 1928 to John and Bonnie Neal Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents along with brothers Lowell and Ausby Washam, AJ and Bill Carpenter.

Dorothy Waggoner Stallard, age 75 of Maynardville passed away on April 10, 2019. She was of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by her parents Jim Waggoner and Thelma Painter, step-mom Nell Waggoner, sister Wilma Coffey, brothers-in-law Frank Coffey, Jack Welch and Seburn Huskey, nieces Crissy Sexton and Debbie Livingston.

Paula "Delight" Ousley Jobe, age 69 died at her home on April 6, 2019. Born the daughter of Maggie Dial and Paul Ousley on August 21, 1949 in Blount County. She held a Masters Degree in Special Education and worked for the University of Tennessee Library for 38 years. An accomplished singer, she was a member of the UT Women's Chorale for 34 years. A voracious reader, Delight was a lifelong lover of books and words; as a child, she competed twice in the National Spelling Bee placing 4th and 16th. A woman of faith, she was a member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church.

Bryan Eugene Jones, 57 of Knoxville, TN passed away on March 26, 2019. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting in the state of Tennessee or anywhere he could . He also loved boating and fishing on Norris Lake, and cruising in his ‘69 Camaro which he totally restored. Bryan was a graduate of Halls High School. He was the owner of Roofs-N-Stuff roofing company for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his father Newton Lee Jones, Jr and mother Mary Jo Gollahar.

Bygone Smith age 52 of Knoxville passed away April 5, 2019. An employee of Forrester Benefits. Bygone was passionate about playing soccer and spending time on the golf course. Preceded in death by his father Clarence Smith. Survived by his wife Teresa Petitt Smith; mother Dar Smith; brother Idrus Smith; mother-in-law & father-in-law Floyd and Trudy Petitt; brothers-in-law Floyd Petitt, Jr. (Carla), Bruce Petitt (Pat), and Paul Petitt; a host of nieces and nephews who will miss their “Uncle Buck”.

Julian “J.D.” Rouse age 85 went to be with the Lord and his family on April 6, 2019. He was a local business owner and a devoted Vols fan. J.D. was a life long member of the Church of God. He was a loving father, husband, and beloved grandfather. Preceded in death by his parents Rev. L.G. Rouse and Martha; eight brothers and sisters. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris Rouse; children Dan Rouse(Tammy), Cherryl Wolfe (Steve); grandchildren Stephen Wolfe (Mandi), Phillip Wolfe (Rebekah), and Hope Wolfe; three great-grandchildren; brother Joe V. Rouse and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Debra Denise Bailey Newton-age 53 of Maynardville passed away Thursday morning, April 4, 2019 at her home. Preceded in death by father, Voyd Bailey; sister, Peggy Dennison.

Survivors: mother, Mary Munsey Brogan of Maynardville; daughters, Starrlene Bailey, Crystal Collins, Billie Jane Bailey; special daughter, Darlene Davis; sister, Vickie Corum and husband, Amos; ten grandchildren, Brianna Bailey, Marcus Collins, Haley Collins, Shea Collins, Destiny Muncey, Christian Welch, Nick Whitson, Jaylen Whitson, Tyler Bailey, William Collins. Several nieces and nephews.

Richard Cole-age 71 of Corryton passed away peacefully Friday, April 5, 2019 at his home. Preceded in death by loving wife, Ina Cole; sons, Ricky Lynn Cole, Ronald Chase Cole; parents, John Wesley and Martha Cole; brothers, Jerry Lynn Cole and June Cole; a devoted friend, Nellie (Reece) Free. He began working at age 8 and became a self-taught carpenter and entrepreneur. During the late 70’s to early 80’s, he drove a truck due to the drop in the housing market. He went back to building homes in the mid 80’s and became semi-retired in 2009.

Carol Warfield Hensley age 74 of Knoxville passed away peacefully Thursday, April 04, 2019 at UT Hospital surrounded by her family. A member of Northwest Church of God, Carol was proud of her Western Cherokee Indian Heritage. She loved her family especially her great-grandkids. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mildred Helen Miller, age 80, of Halls, went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Clyde Miller; mother and father Pauline and Jake Whitson; sister Mattie Nicely; and brothers James, Edgar and Lindsay Whitson.

Mrs. Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Calfee, CCEMT-P, age 65, of Corryton went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 4, 2019, surrounded by her family and friends. She is a member of Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her father, Sherman Turner, and sister, Mary Hoke, and mother and father-in-law, Helen and Edward Calfee.

Margie Marie Nicley-age 94 of Luttrell went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, April 3, 2019 at Willow Ridge. She was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her son, James Mitchell “Pete” Nicley; daughter-in-law, Bernice Nicley.

Survivors: grandsons, Dennis Nicley and wife, Bailey; Kenny Nicley and wife, Cindy; granddaughter, Christy Nicley; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Lorena Nicley Housewright, Patsy Bowman and husband, John; two brothers, Anderson Nicley, Darrell Nicley and wife, Janice.

Mildred Louise Brown-age 82 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, April 2, 2019 peacefully at her home. She was a member of Pennington Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Flora Munsey; brothers, Willis, Austin “Dock”, Herbert “Bill” and Larry Munsey; sisters, Fostine Munsey, Juanita Cooper, Elsie Hobock, Mary Blackburn and Irene Sweet.

Katherine Keck, age 87, passed away on April 2, 2019 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. She is preceded in death by parents Sam and Eva Chandler; siblings Sam Chandler, Jennie Bryan, Sue Spotts, and Ann Oaks. She is survived by loving husband of 67 years Bobby Keck, son Daryle Keck, daughter Becky Reed, grandchildren Laura, Kevin, Abby, Annie, and Jeremy, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Betty (Donald) Riccard, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty (Arthur) McKenzie and Bill (Virginia) Keck, many nieces and nephews.

Jesse T. Kirby, age 86, passed away April 3, 2019. He was of the Baptist faith. Jesse proudly served in the U.S. Army for eight years. Preceded in death by wife Helen and son, Larry Wayne. Kristan Marie (Kris) Howerton, age 38 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019. She was a loving & caring mother and her children were the center of her universe. Kristan was a very artistic person with the soul of a free-spirited unicorn. She worked as a LPN, tattoo apprentice, and volunteered at the RAM clinic.
