Alvilva (Ousley) Carr – age 100, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2018 at 8:30 p.m. at Holston Health and Rehab Center in Knoxville. She was born on January 25, 1918 in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee and lived to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 25, 2018. She was somewhat secretive about her age, but grew quite excited as she neared her 100th birthday and wanted everyone to come to her party. She looked forward to seeing her wonderful extended family, her fellow members of First Baptist Church of Maynardville, and other Union County friends.

Willard Harvey (Bo) Ferrell, age 71 of Powell, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2018. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Linda Gail Cole Ferrell. He worked all his life in the fire sprinkler industry. He enjoyed camping, fishing, skating, auto racing, trips to the beach, and family events.

Beulah Louise (Cassady) Ellis, age 84 of Powell, Tennessee moved to her Heavenly home early Tuesday morning, May 29, 2018. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, Lucille and Bruce Cassady; husband Charles Ellis; and grandson Aaron Florida. Cuba Pauline (Cox) Wilson, age 101 of Maynardville, went home to be with her Heavenly Father at 2:45 a.m. on May 29, 2018 at her caregiver’s home. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Cuba was Union County’s Register of Deeds for 40 years. She was Farmer’s Mutual Fire Insurance Company’s Secretary/Treasurer for approximately 30 years. Cuba served the public in various other positions fulfilling her desire to serve and help others.

Ruth Ann Walker, age 71 of Halls, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 27th 2018 at UT Medical Center. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by husband, Kyle (Pete) Walker. She is survived and will be deeply missed by son, Forrest Walker; Very special Grandsons, Travis and Cameron Walker; sisters, Kay Hammond; Fay Cummins; and Wanza Hill; brother, Don Campbell; several nieces and nephews; and very special friend Reggie Barnes. Wallace “Wally” Jarnigan, age 73, passed away Saturday May 27th, 2018. He is preceded in death by father Robert Jarnigan, mother Reba Lawson, and brothers; Bob, Kenneth, and Bryant Jarnigan. Diana Lee Richard, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, May 22nd after a courageous battle with cancer. Diana was born in Chicago on July 9, 1943 to Grace and Clarence Willert who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by son, Reed Hornung and daughter, Beth Richard. She is survived by her husband, Paul Richard; sons, Ryan Hornung (Cathy), Russell Hornung (Ally), and Robert Richard; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Bloethner and Janice Steek; and brother, Lee Willert. Diana loved country western couples & line dancing.

Barbara "Sue" Turpin, age 74, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2018. She was a member of New Victory Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Joseph "Jay" Turpin, Sr.; son, Martin Joseph Turpin, Jr.; parents, Walter and Ruth Grubbs; and sister, Pat Stanifer. Norma Jean (Joe) Hutchison of Knoxville passed away peacefully in her home on May 21, 2018. She was 81 years old. She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and the Band of Sisters Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Hutchison; mother, Charlcie Sears; sister, Nancy Klaasse; nephew, Barry Cleveland. She is survived by her nephews, Brian Cleveland and Jeff Ammons; nieces, Robin Ammons Hipsky and Trina Ammons.

Kathy Elaine Buck Williams-age 64 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, May 20, 2018 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was a member of Little Valley Baptist Church. Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who was loved by all who knew her. Preceded in death by parents, Don and Jenna Lou Tharpe; former husband, Mitchell Buck; special aunts and uncles, Joanne and J. D. Wallace, Mary and John Tharpe.

Ellen Beth Lynch, age 58, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 20, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beth was born and raised in Knoxville. She was of the Christian faith and walked daily in His presence. Beth was the self-employed owner of Salon Twenty-One. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Donald Holt; brother-in-law Ron Reagan; special boy and furry friend "Woody".

Edna Lee Weaver Smith, age 101. Passed away May 18, 2018. She was preceded in death by husband Clyde E. Smith, parents M.U. and Lena Weaver. Son-in-law Homer Smith and Granddaughter Melinda Sue Smith. She is survived by children Don Smith, Betty Rae Smith, Shirley Smith, Polly Land (Ted) and Vaughn Smith. Robert Wilson Johnson – was born on August 12, 1930 and passed away on May 16, 2018. He was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church of Knoxville and a graduate of Central High School. Robert was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He received a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Agriculture Economics from the University of Tennessee and was retired from the United States Department of Agriculture after 29 years of service.

Edna Kidwell Keen-age 81 of Maynardville passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at her home. She was a member of Milan Baptist Church and was a very active member of the Union County Senior Citizens. Preceded in death by husband, Dewey Keen; parents, Ervon and Opal Kidwell; brothers, Tom and John Kidwell; sisters, Marie, Mae, Lillia and Twila Kidwell.

Survivors: brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Rosemary Kidwell of Knoxville; sisters, Ineal Kidwell of Knoxville, Doris Abbott of Sevierville. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Lillian Mildred Hamilton – went to be with her Lord on May 13, 2018 at Norris Rehab and Health Center in Norris, TN. Born on July 12, 1922, in Grant County KY, she was 95 years old.

Christopher “Chris” Dyer – age 34 of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was of the Baptist faith. Chris was a graduate of Powell High School class of 2001.

Lawrence Monroe Bruner – age 86 of Maynardville, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, May 11, 2018. He was a member of Free Fellowship Pentecostal Church. Lawrence was a United States Marine Veteran and was retired from the United Iron Workers Local #384.
