Carl James Wyrick

Carl James Wyrick (81) passed away peacefully at home Thursday, August 14, 2025. He was born April 21, 1944 at his home place in Luttrell, TN. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Calday & Frances (Pierce) Wyrick; brothers, Theodore, OG, Fred; sisters, Hester, Sally, Pearl, Carolyn, Barbara; nephews, Steve Atkins, James Wyrick, Jeff Wyrick, Michael Tolliver, Russ Tolliver; niece, Becky Tolliver.
He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary "Penny" Wyrick. They shared a great life with lots of love, patience, forgiveness, fishing and love for family.
He is survived by his "one & only" daughter Sherri Prewitt (husband Bob); grandchildren, Alex, Mary Richards (husband Austin), Jacob; great grandchildren, Luna & Aries; fur grandbabies, Maya, Ellanore, Lily May Junebug, Toothbrush and Pickles. Several nieces (and Nephews), who also stepped in to help care for Carl. An enormous amount of love, thankfulness and gratitude for Tina Wyrick, Teresa Yarberry, Dana Hubbs, Janet Holloway, Kay Sharp, Priscilla Gordan, Kayla Graves and Carrie Cates for their time and abundance of love shown towards Carl. The family would also like to thank everyone who visited with Carl and prayed for Carl.
Carl had a love for baseball (Go Braves!), fishing, football (Go Vols!), racing, whittling and most of all family. He so enjoyed being around friends and loved ones. He was known for making his rounds of checking in on family and friends. And sometimes he could be found at the Whittling Shack spinning tales. For those he visited and loved, do not feel he has left, for he will continue to watch over us with Penny by his side.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Leonard Goin officiating. Interment service will be held immediately after the funeral service at Sharp Cemetery in Luttrell. Pallbearers will be Dan Wyrick, Daniel Wyrick, Matt Graves, Bryan Gordon, Austin Richards, Erastus Cardwell, Erick Cannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Prewitt and Jacob Prewitt. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville.
