Memoir Class Update

Memoir Class Update

The Union County Memoir Class has three sessions under its belt. We have a good mix of Union County people and there is room for more. The first class had six participants and the last two had eight. Their stories reflect Union County living.

The stories are written for their families, not for some editor. They reflect the way they talk and the idioms they use. We are all ancestors to our descendants. Most of us know very little about how our grandparents and great-grandparents lived. Our stories, written down, will be a legacy of our joys and problems of living in the here and now.

Each participant is encouraged to write for every session a one page, 500 or more word, episode of what it is like living in Union County. Their stories are fascinating. One person is a descendant of Buffalo Bill Cody. Another wrote about fox hunting in times past. No fox was harmed and no alcohol consumed, just a lot of story-telling and listening to the baying of the hounds. He listed the Luttrell area participants of one fox hunt. Is someone you know included there? Come find out.

Please do not think you would be trying to fit into the middle of something. I have handouts on how to write your episodes. We will answer any questions you may have and help you fit in.

Everyone has a story to tell. You are encouraged to join us at our twice a month class. We normally meet the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 9:30 A. M. However, there will be a change this month of March. The class scheduled for March 22 will be canceled since the Union County Senior Center will be closed on that day. That takes care of the month of March. The next class will be in April, on the 11th at 9:30 A. M. at the Union County Senior Center. Please come join us. We want to hear your stories.
