HMMS welcomes new athletic director and vice principal

DJ Taylor
Horace Maynard Middle School is proud to announce two exciting additions to its leadership team for the upcoming school year.
Coach DJ Taylor has been named the new Athletic Director at HMMS. A 1998 graduate of Clinton High School, Coach Taylor enlisted in the U.S. Army during his senior year and went on to serve for 17 years, including multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Throughout his military service, he completed several leadership programs, including the Army’s Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Leadership Course, and Advanced Leadership Course.
Coach Taylor has served as Head Football Coach at HMMS and will continue in that role alongside his new responsibilities. “I am honored to be named Athletic Director at Horace Maynard. I look forward to working with all of our coaches as we continue the success of our athletic programs. Together, we will work tirelessly to take the next steps in helping our student-athletes grow—not only in competition, but also in the classroom,” he said.
In addition, HMMS is thrilled to welcome Hayley Brantley as the new vice principal. A proud Union County native from Sharps Chapel, Brantley is a product of Union County schools. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Masters in Secondary Science Education from the University of Tennessee, as well as a Masters in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University.
For the past nine years, Brantley has taught biology and coached cross country at Union County High School. “I am excited for the opportunity to serve as assistant principal at Horace Maynard Middle School and look forward to supporting our students, staff, and community in this new role,” she shared.
Please join us in giving a warm HMMS welcome to DJ Taylor and Hayley Brantley as they step into their new positions and help lead our school community forward.
