HMMS Baseball Captures 3rd District Title in a Row
The Horace Maynard Middle School baseball program has become synonymous with consistency, discipline, and winning and this season only added to that legacy. Under the leadership of Coach Orrick, Coach Fuller and Coach Cooke, the team captured its third consecutive Appalachian Conference Championship.
Building on the foundation established by former Coach John Edds, this year’s team embraced the pressure and pride that come with a winning tradition.
“Coach Edds set the standard, and we were determined to keep it going,” said Coach Orrick. “Winning is great, but our priority is preparing these boys for high school baseball. Along the way, our kids won the Appalachian Conference Championship. Huge thanks to Coaches Fuller and Cooke for pouring so much energy and effort into this season, our kids are lucky to have them.”
That preparation and commitment were on full display in the Appalachian Conference Championship tournament, especially in game two in the double elimination format against Rutledge. After a competitive start to the series, Horace Maynard left no doubt in the deciding matchup, delivering a dominant performance that showcased their depth, discipline, and offensive firepower. The blowout victory over Rutledge sealed the title and punctuated a season defined by teamwork and execution.
Beyond the scoreboard, what continues to set this program apart is its purpose. While championships are celebrated, the coaching staff remains focused on developing fundamentally sound players who are ready to compete at the next level.
