While summer gardens are in full swing, now is the perfect time to start planning for fall. The Union County office of UT Extension is offering a free workshop, “Planning a Fall Garden,” on Wednesday, July 16 at 10 a.m., to help local gardeners make the most of the cooler seasons.

Fall gardening brings new opportunities—and fewer pests! In this one-hour session, we’ll talk about what to plant and when, how to choose the right varieties for our East Tennessee climate, and tips for reducing pest pressure. Whether you’re hoping for a late-season harvest or thinking about growing into winter, this class will set you up for success.

It’s free and open to the public, but registration is required. You can sign up at tiny.utk.edu/UnionGarden.
