Free “Growing Apples in Tennessee” Class Scheduled for April 17

A free educational program on apple production will be offered on Friday, April 17, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Chuck Swan State Forest Building. The class, titled Growing Apples in Tennessee, replaces a previously scheduled apple grafting class that was canceled due to low registration.
The program will focus on apple care and management and is designed for homeowners, beginners, and anyone interested in growing apples in Tennessee. Topics to be covered include site selection, apple varieties, planting practices, pruning, general management, and identification and control of common pests and diseases.
The class will be presented by Shannon DeWitt, who will provide practical information tailored to growing apples in Tennessee conditions. While the program is free to attend, advance registration is preferred at least 24 hours prior to the class.
