What Is It?
Tim and I had a party at our house this weekend. It wasn’t just any ol’ party.
Back in February, we were so excited to receive the news that another grandchild was on its way. Our first grandchild, Maverick, will be two in August, so we saw it as perfect timing. By the way, God’s timing is always perfect. Of course, we all immediately began to wonder whether it would be a girl or another boy. While that is a natural thing to do, either way, we are going to love it and pray that it’s healthy.
Back when I carrying Sara, we had to wait until they performed an ultrasound to determine her gender. If I remember correctly, that was around the fifth month. Nowadays, you don’t have to wait that long. Early on, Sara took a blood test to determine that. The way I understand it, the baby’s blood mixes with the mothers, so it’s genes will be circulating in her blood. If the baby is a boy (XY), then there will by Y chromosomes present. If it is a girl (XX), they won’t find any Y chromosomes. Now, this isn’t 100% guaranteed since there is always a chance for contamination. That being said, we pretty much went with the result. Why? Sara had a feeling it was correct. I did the same with her. I had a strong feeling about her gender as well.
When people would ask about the new baby, Mom and I were happy to share the news of its gender. We even told the name Sara and Jordan had chosen. Well, we found out very quickly that Sara and Jordan didn’t want anybody to know what it is until the Gender Reveal. So, Mom and I had to go back to everybody that we had told and plead with them not to repeat what we had said. In all fairness, isn’t that what you do when you’re excited about something? You can’t wait to tell others.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 (KJV)
Like I just said, when you have awesome news, you want to share it with others. If you’ve been saved, then you should feel that way about the gospel. It needs to be shared so that others have the opportunity to know just how good He is (Psalm 34:8.)
In case you’re curious, Sara and Jordan’s baby is a girl: Mallory Kate. The anatomy scan confirmed it. Now, we are all going to make sure that they know Jesus. Also, I make sure they will know their dinosaurs and planets. Hey, God made them too.
