Union County 4-H Youth Showcase Creativity at Quilting Adventure Day Camp
Union County 4-H youth Presley Lay, Lexxi Cummings, and Payton Miller spent October 5–7 learning new skills and putting their creativity to work during the Union County 4-H Quilting Adventure Day Camp. Throughout the three-day camp, participants practiced their sewing skills and created beautiful quilts of their own.
The camp provided youth with an opportunity to develop valuable sewing skills while building confidence, exploring their creativity, and experiencing the satisfaction of completing a project from start to finish. Each quilt reflected the individual creativity and hard work of its maker, showcasing the talent and dedication of Union County’s young 4-H members.
Sarah Stokely-Cook, Union County 4-H Agent, would like to extend a special thank-you to Mrs. Morgan for partnering with her to make the camp possible and to Mrs. Debra Keck for volunteering her time and assisting with the activities. Their willingness to share their knowledge, skills, and talents helped make the camp a success.
Union County 4-H provides youth with opportunities to explore new interests, develop life skills, and learn through hands-on experiences. Sewing and quilting activities allow participants to practice patience, problem-solving, creativity, and practical skills they can use for years to come.
Youth and families interested in learning more about upcoming 4-H sewing opportunities are encouraged to contact Sarah Stokely-Cook at the Union County Extension Office at 865-992-8038 or madsstok@utk.edu.
Union County 4-H looks forward to providing more opportunities for young people to learn, create, and discover new talents through hands-on projects.
