Horace Maynard Middle School wrapped up a highly successful summer school session this June, averaging around 75 students each day—the largest turnout in recent memory. Students came ready to grow academically and personally, and they did just that through a mix of core academics and engaging enrichment activities.

The program focused on strengthening foundational skills in math and English Language Arts, but it didn’t stop there. Students also had the chance to explore hands-on learning in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and CTE (Career and Technical Education) and there was a physical education component each day.

“We’re incredibly proud of our students for showing up and putting in the effort to improve,” said Shane Rose who oversees summer school at HMMS. “It’s not easy giving up part of your summer, but these students made the most of it.”

None of this would’ve been possible without the dedicated team of teachers and staff who gave their time to support and guide students through the month. Their commitment to helping kids grow, both in and out of the classroom, made all the difference.

As summer continues, we hope everyone takes time to relax and recharge. We’re already excited for the upcoming school year and can’t wait to welcome students back to 435 Main Street soon!
