Successful Easter Egg Hunt (by Normal Gillen)
Green (grass), blue (sky), yellow (sun), orange, and red (to remind us of the blood Jesus shed) were the colors of plastic eggs filled with goodies at Wilson Park on Easter Sunday, plus a few golden eggs with cash prizes. The weatherman cooperated by moving the much-needed rain to Saturday night instead of Sunday afternoon, clearing the way for gorgeous weather during The Hunt.
Unfortunately, The Hunt only lasted about 10 minutes. It didn’t take long for 40-50 enthusiastic kids to find 300 eggs lying on the ground, barely hidden by the unmowed grass! All children received a plush toy to ensure that no child left “empty-basketed”. The Hunt was a delight for all involved: the 2-year-old to 11-year-old hunters; parents and guardians; grandparents; and The American Legion Post 212, which sponsored The Hunt.
The post thanks all the volunteers who organized this successful 3rd annual Easter Egg Hunt, and the families who participated. See you next year! Note: pictures of The Hunt are posted on our website at www.ALTNPost212.org.
