Students win TN BETA, move on to national convention

BETA students who wone at the state and may compete on a national level.

Several Union County students were recognized by the UC Board of Education for their outstanding performance in competitions covering academics and the arts at the Tennessee BETA Club Convention. These students may now compete at the National BETA Club Convention in Florida in June. During the workshop, Lily Rouse performed a dance that she choreographed, and Luke Goforth sang and played a ukelele during the meeting. Several displayed items they had entered in the competition including drawings, sculpture and photographs.

Representing Sharps Chapel Elementary were Lily Rouse, 1st place in performing arts solo, duo, trio category; Saige Dykes, 2nd place in Quilling; Sullivan Queener, 2nd place in digitally enhanced photography; Jayon Battles, 2nd place in Spelling; and Abel Welch, 4th place in Social Studies.

Competing from Horace Maynard Middle School was Gracie Nirmier, 4th place in Drawing. Representing Big Ridge Elementary were Alijah Nicely, 4th place Apparel Design; Luke Goforth, 4th place Variety Act; Jace Dyer. 2nd place black/white photography; Zeke Gideon, 2nd place Sculpture; Boone Dyer, 4th place Photography; and Daylen Kitts, 3rd place Drawing.
