Plainview invites candidate to speak in July

According to Mayor Lynn Beeler, all candidates in the August Election are invited to speak at the Plainview Mayor and Board of Aldermen Meeting on July 14, 2026. The meeting begins at 7:00.

At the last regular meeting on Tuesday, June 9, 20026, the Plainview Mayor and Board of Aldermen voted to increase its scholarship to a graduating senior who resides in Plainview from $500 to $1000 for FY 27. The motion also requires the graduating senior to have a 4.0 GPA. A second motion increased the 2026 scholarship to $1,000 that was awarded to Hannah Smith in May.

Police Chief, Kenny Crider, reported 68 calls for service, 12 citations, 16 traffic offenses, and 1 arrest by the Plainview Police with assistance from the Union County Sheriff Department and US Marshals Service.

There were no reports from the zoning officer or the fire chief. The next Plainview MBA Meeting is on July 14, 2026.
