Plainview approves officer overtime pay

Vice Mayor Richard Phillips moved to approve the officer overtime rate of $40 per hour. Alderman Keith Brantley provided the second.

Only one business item filled the City of Plainview agenda on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The Board of Aldermen unanimously approved Resolution 95 to implement the overtime pay rate of $40 per hour for police officers. The funds are from a grant.

Reports included police, fire, and codes. Chief of Police, Kenny Crider, reported 35 calls for service, 1 arrest, and 4 citations. Chief of Fire Department, Brad Woods, stated that the department has at 92 calls for service so far this year. Chief Woods also stated that the Luttrell Fire Department hosted a Trunk or Treat on October 25 from 5-7 pm at Luttrell Elementary School and had 432 people participate. He is applying for the TN State Fire Marshalls grant which would go toward new equipment. He reminded everyone to keep their dryer vents and chimneys clean to prevent fires. Zoning Officer, Stewart Skeen, issued no building permits in October and continues to work with Partner Assessment Corporation on an assessment of the mobile home park on Monday Road.

Vice Mayor Phillips announced the Neighborhood Watch meeting on the third Thursday will be held on November 20th, 2025 @ 7:00 pm at the Plainview Community Building.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 9, at 7:00 with the Planning Commission at 6:30.
