The spirit of Mayberry is set to take over downtown Mount Airy, N.C. once again as the annual Mayberry Days returns September 21-27, drawing fans of The Andy Griffith Show from across the United States and beyond. The weeklong celebration honors the enduring legacy of Andy Griffith and the small-town values that made the fictional Mayberry a beloved part of American culture.
Organized by the Surry Arts Council, the festival transforms Andy Griffith's hometown into a gathering place for television enthusiasts, families, and visitors seeking a taste of a simpler era. Events will be held throughout downtown Mount Airy, including the Andy Griffith Playhouse, Historic Earle Theatre, Andy Griffith Museum Theatre, Arts Center, and Blackmon Amphitheatre.

Festival organizers have scheduled a full week of entertainment featuring concerts, comedy performances, educational presentations, contests, and fan-favorite traditions. Among the featured events are appearances by comedian John Floyd, known as "The Mouth of Mayberry," and nationally touring entertainer Randy Riggle, who will present his nostalgic comedy tribute to mid-20th-century America. Also, favorites such as Rodney Dillard (Darling Family Member), Karen Knotts (Don Knotts daughter), Bill Knotts (Don Knotts nephew), Margaret Teele (Agnes Jean Parker from episode “A visit to Barney Fife”), Dan Roebuck (Cliff Lewis from Matlock), along with many tribute artists.

Longtime festival traditions will also return, including the Emmett Golf Tournament, checker games, community music performances, chapel services, and the popular pork chop-themed festivities that have become synonymous with Mayberry Days. Visitors can also enjoy guided tours, contests, family activities, and opportunities to connect with fellow fans who share a love for the classic television series.

This year's festival also carries special significance as fans mark the centennial year of Andy Griffith's birth. Scheduled presentations and exhibits will highlight Griffith's impact on American entertainment and his lasting connection to Mount Airy.
