HMMS Updates Website and Prepares for Busy February
Horace Maynard Middle School is rolling into the second half of the school year with an updated online presence and a full slate of upcoming events for students and families. The newly updated HMMS website is now live and will continue to serve as a key communication tool for families and the community. Parents and community members are encouraged to visit the site to stay informed about school news, events, and resources. This is an additional tool to the other means of communication that HMMS currently uses.
February brings several exciting opportunities to campus. On February 24, all 5th grade students in Union County will visit HMMS during the school day to tour the campus and learn more about the classes and programs offered, giving future Red Devils an early look at middle school life. That same evening, from 5:30–6:30 p.m., HMMS will host its “½ to Graduation Night” for 6th grade families. This drop-in event celebrates students reaching the halfway point to graduation and provides families with information about 7th and 8th grade course options and how they connect to high school and future plans.
On February 25, HMMS will host its 8th Grade Career Fair during the school day. The event, held on an early release day, will help students explore how their middle school courses connect to Career and Technical Education pathways at Union County High School and to future postsecondary and career opportunities.
In athletics news, HMMS is excited to announce new leadership for the Boys Soccer Program. Jahna Baker has been named Interim Head Coach for the 2026 season. A player-only meeting was held February 9, and a player/parent meeting on February 10 at 6:00 p.m. Additional coaching staff announcements will be shared as they are finalized.
HMMS is looking forward to an active February!
