Fun Art
You may have heard it said, “Laughter is good for the soul,” which I believe is true. I want to add an element to that: So is fun art.
There is something soothing when you color or paint, especially when it’s just for fun. I think our brain needs time to unwind and relax. The colors trigger memories and moods, the movement releases the stress we hold on to. If we take the time to gather with friends and create, it’s about the experience. So have a good time. The thing with fun art is it’s not meant to be a masterpiece, it’s playful and should make you smile. Just add color, add diminish, try textures, it’s not finished until you say it is.
I love seeing a person’s face light up when they accomplish the painting in one of my paint sessions. To hear someone say they are excited to pick up a brush they haven’t in years or a new painter’s delight when they realize they do have an artistic bone. I’m a hobbyist, so my classes were mostly online during Covid, but I do offer in-person private parties such as church groups or family and friend small groups. The trendy designs can be painted on canvas, wood cutouts, porch leaners. The templates and patterns are strictly a guide so mix it up, go off grid, do it your way, make it your own.
Find a local studio that offers workshops or an online class to get started. No worries—most of these will offer art kits that include everything you need to complete the project or have a supply list. Make friends and build friendships in the process.
