Enter the Heritage Cake Baking Contest
New to the Heritage Festival is the Cake Baking Contest. The Union County FCE Club will coordinate the contest and provide the judges. Participants can enter one cake that is totally homemade in each of three categories: 1)Layered, 2) Sheet, 3) Bundt. A recipe card and a registration form must be submitted with the cake. Cakes must be delivered to the Union County Extension Office at 2721 Maynardville Highway on Thursday, October 3, from 4:00 to 5:00 or on Friday, October 4, from 8:00 to 11:00 in the morning in order to be judged starting at 12:30.
All ages can participate. Grand prize winners receive $100. First place winners in each category receive $50.
Cakes will be sold after being judged to raise funds for FCE activities. For more information and for a registration form, drop by the extension office or download a form at unioncountyheritagefestival.com.
If pie baking is more to your liking, the FCE will coordinate the pie contest sponsored by Tammie Hill of Realty Executives.
The rules and registration forms for both contests are at unioncountyheritagefestival.com and also attached to the online article on Historic Union County and on Facebook.
