Cumberland Falls
There is just something about water whether it’s a lake, creek or sea. We have some of the best places to enjoy nestled here within East Tennessee borders.
Have you visited Cumberland Falls? Also so known as “Little Niagara” or “Niagara of the South”. It’s actually in Kentucky, just across our state line in Corbin, KY. Easy drive to soak up natures blessings. The air is cooler by the falls. The sounds of passionate of rushing water that is soothing and a powerful atmosphere.
The park has paths and handrails for easy access. It’s still mountainous terrain, but they definitely worked on its accessibility. We go to see the waterfall, however there are other things to do in the park: hiking, fishing, camping, etc. I recommend checking out their website for both everyday and special events to get the most out of your trip.
Make sure to research the moonbow also referred to as a white rainbow which is seen at night. Their website gives the dates it’s most likely to be seen, which is tied to the moon phases, specifically a full moon. The Moonbow is a spectacular experience. Where else can you see a rainbow image with the mountain mist in the air? A quick google search will show you no where close other than Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in Corbin, Kentucky; all the other places are faraway such as Victoria Falls (Zambia/Zimbabwe border); Yosemite National Park in California, USA; Waimea Canyon State Park in Hawaii, Skogafoss in Iceland, and Wallaman Falls in Australia
For your convenience I’ve included some website links to help you plan your trip. You should go experience a great day trip.
